We have the pigs in the wooded areas of the property. One of my interns has two Jersey cows there as well which she milks by hand, we should also have a calf with them by mid-September."

Had a blast. It was so interesting being at the farm, meeting all of you and having that beautiful picnic. Thank you.

Since few backed out at the last hour and there's room open, I've decided to bring my wife and two boys.

I can catch a ride to the farm with Michelle if anyone would be willing to drive me back into the city?! Let me know :)

    September 20, 2013

    • Daniella

GREAT! Sounds good. What time are you planning on heading back?

      September 21, 2013

    • Lynette C.

Not sure if I can say an exact time- just whenever the event is finished? If there's anyone else heading this way, I don't think it'll be a problem finding a ride back to the city..

Hi- Just found out recently I have another meeting that morning that ends around 12:30. If I can I will head out to the farm straight from there. 1 care/ 1 person

We have received questions from several farm visitors about what we would have available for sale on Sunday. We sell about 95% of our milk and eggs to dairy club members, and most of our pork, beef, and chicken is pre-ordered in bulk. However, I just did an inventory of the freezers and here is what we have on hand:

    - Beef Tongue, Liver, Heart, and Suet
    - Beef Chuck Roasts, Stew Meat, Ground Beef, Meaty Soup Bones
    - Beef Strip Steaks, Rib Eye Steaks, Porterhouse, and T-Bones
    - Pork Shoulder Roasts, Hams, Ground Pork, Breakfast Sausage
    - Pork Liver, Liver Sausage, Kidneys, and Back Fat for lard
    - Pork Spare Ribs and smoked Hocks

We may also have a few gallons of raw milk on hand, and possibly some fresh chickens we butchered today. If you are interested in buying anything please bring a cooler. We accept cash and checks only, no credit cards. You can find our price list on the website at www.bn-farms.com.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday.

Roger, no need to bring the form tomorrow. We don't have enough extra milk to bring on any new dairy club customers at this point, just an occasional extra few gallons that we can offer.

Cliff (farmer) have permission to film and have a short picnic during the tour! We're filming GROKFEAST!!! (See other meetup event for Grokfeast 2013 for details). If people can bring something to eat to share with everyone to the tour, this would be perfect! And picnic blankets are also welcome or we can just sit in the grass (weather permitting).

If you have 5finger shoes and/or the Paleo Chicago shirt (Matt posted link in comments section of grokfeast meetup event), please wear those! It'll make out video that much more awesome!

Vibrams are Paleo? Wouldn't BARE FEET be better?

      1 · September 20, 2013

    • Lynette C.

Haha, you're right, Owen! I don't know really what to expect yet, so I'll wear my vibrams there, and if the opportunity arises I'll definitely go barefoot in the spur of the moment :-)

I just found out that I am on call on Sunday. I don't want to commit to giving anyone a ride if I may have to back out. Sorry for the late notice, but I just found out this afternoon.

I am also going to have to bow out. I injured my back 2 weeks ago and was hoping I would be back on my feet by now. Im not though and feel the long drive will do me no favors. My apologies. I was really looking forward to this outing.

Hey everyone! Sept 22nd is just around the corner, and I'm very much looking forward to this tour. We need to make sure we are under the limit for cars taken to the tour- so if possible, carpooling is heavily recommended! For the main farm: The Ranch, the car limit is 20. Please post how many RSVP'd attendees will be in your car so we can make sure everyone that is interested in attending is being accommodated! Linda is driving from Evanston, I'm driving from Chicago, so please reach out to carpool!

I would love to car-pool. I live near Oak Park, but can drive to meet someone with an empty seat.
Shoot me an email [masked] or text my cell[masked]-7038... thanks! Katy
