I am looking into this type of purchase. Could you give me details as to where you purchased, how many pound of meat you actually received (vs. hanging weight), and how much it was? Thanks, Carolyn

HI Carolyn. I was very happy with the purchase. I bought the quarter and I kept 1/4 of the quarter and divided it up between others in this group. If I had it to do over again I probably would kept half of the quarter cow. The beef is good. There were a few cuts/parts missing that I would have liked (skirt steaks, offal etc). But with a quarter that is how it goes. But farmer is local and a really nice straight forward guy. The farm is in Southern Wisconsin, and he lives in Arlington Heights (which is where I picked it up). He also does pork. His name is: Donald Andrew <buffalodon52@yahoo.com>

Last I heard he was planning on butchering a steer some time in Feb. Give him a call (847-524-0643) or an email. He lives in Schaumburg actually. I think he had to up his price to 3.25/lb to meet the needs of the farm but it's still an amazing deal. Were you looking for just a little or an entire quarter?
