Learn the different types of stomach rolls, and sensual slow work that make belly dance so unique and special. A special emphasis will be placed on breakdown of stomach rolls, plus hand and arm positioning. Hands and arms complete the lines of a dancer’s body, and therefore contribute to artistic presentation. Dancers of all levels are welcome. This workshop will be taught by two teachers with over 50 years of dance experience.
The beginning stretches will be led by Kira. Arm, hand, and breakdown of stomach rolls will be taught by Kahreen. Kira will breakdown various taksim movements, and combine them with hip undulations, belly rolls and snake arms. Once the movements are mastered, combinations will be taught. This workshop will teach better stretching, and isolation techniques and make the student more aware of proper posture, and the use of space around the body.

Both Kahreen and Kira have received lifetime achievement awards from Zaghareet Magazine & MECDA. Kahreen has been teaching ongoing classes for over 30 years. Kira has been teaching for the past 20 years and currently teaches and performs professionally throughout Dade County. As a duo and as soloists, they have been featured in many shows and on the covers of top Middle eastern Dance magazines. Their love and obsession with this beautiful art form is shown in every class and every movement.

Kira+1 guestKahreen and I had a lovely group of dancers who worked hard and very open to learning, including two dancers who braved the weather and drove down from Melbourne to take the workshop. We covered all of the material, posture, stretching techniques, arm and hand movements and taksim breakdowns as well.
