Class 5 - "Planning for your Future: How to Direct our Karma?"

Part of a New Series Reviewing the Essence of Namnang Mingjo Dorje Rinpoche's

"21 Classes on the Essential

Points to Cultivating the Buddhist Path"

Wed, September 4 @ 7 pm - 9 pm

245 College Ave, APt. C, Palo Alto

“We are all cycling in the six realms of samsara. If we don’t change our lives, don’t change ourselves, then we will be controlled and pushed by the karma.”

“Buddha taught us the teachings so we know that we are able to make a plan to train ourselves and through the training of yourself will have the ability to change your current life and your future life. All the karma is so huge, it is like a warehouse of good and bad karmas that are all unorganized and covered in dust and when you step inside your warehouse (your mind) you feel so uncomfortable and you don't know how to begin to arrange and clean it because everything is so mixed up. So you have to think 'ok, I can do it' and start with dusting everything off, so you can see what are the good things and what are the bad things to put them in order. Then you can remove the bad things and leave more space for the good things, so you will be able to store more and more good things. And like that you will be able to have the ability to change your life and future lives."

Please join us as we discuss:

· How can we cultivate good qualities of our mind to gain control over our futures?

· What are the different states of existences (realms or states of rebirth) and how these are connected with our internal states of suffering (negative emotions/ afflictions of the mind) and our internal states of happiness (development of positive qualities of the mind- wisdom, compassion and loving-kindness)?

· What is meant by “merging the essence of the dharma with your heart, like milk merges with water?  What mistakes should we avoid and what attitude should we have?

“We need to continually train our minds to let the merit and virtue continually merge into our hearts.  When one is able to do that, if you do the wrong things and you make a mistake, your heart won’t be used to it and your heart will be able to see ‘oh, that is a mistake, I should not do it’. Through the training you will learn to merge your merit into your heart and you will have the ability to see what can help you and what can hurt you.”

“Through the cultivation or the practice, everything you get through those teachings or practices you should merge into your mind just like sugar melts into water and like milk merges into the water.  You should merge all the essence or nectar from the Dharma into your heart.  Rinpoche asks you to contemplate yourself.  Have you done that in the past?"

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
