How to Lead Your Life to Brightness: The Practical Benefits of Studying Buddhism
Wednesday, 7 pm - 9 pm
245 College Avenue, Apt. C, Palo Alto
Last week we discussed how our mind is a “forerunner of all actions”. We read several sutras and reflected on how our thoughts proceed our actions, and each action becomes a new cause, like throwing a rock into our future - - these causes will result in effects that are similar to the cause. So kind acts now motivated by love and compassion become the cause for future happiness. And acts motivated by anger or hatred or greed become future causes of suffering.
Each week we open our forum to people completely new to Buddhism. No previous knowledge is required! We will give you give many new ways to reflect on your life. This week
· What are the special qualities of the Buddha & the 3 Jewels?
· How do we connect with their blessings in order to improve quickly on the path?
· Why do we need merits or good qualities on the path & how does this connect with cause & effect?
We will again read several stories from Buddha’s past lives and reflect on the positive qualities of the Buddha and the example that he set for us. As we begin to learn how to truly cultivate positive assets in our mind we start to see and experience in a very practical way how we can overcome negative afflictive emotions and remove the various obstacles we face in our life.
In this new series of teachings we will introduce the clarity, inspiration and benefits of the Buddhist Path. These classes will provide you with the basic structure, theory, and practical application, and step by step instructions of how Buddhism can help you in your daily life; providing you with methods to understand how you and your life function and can be transformed for the better.
The content from this new series of teachings comes from the direct guidance and realization of Lama Namnang Mingjo Dorje Rinpoche, 68th Lineage Holder of Nagavara Raja Lineage Tradition. These teachings have been passed down from one Lineage Holder to the next until Rinpoche. Rinpoche was discovered at the age of 6 by the 67th Lineage Holder and trained in Wutai Mountain in China. He was predestined in the Sutras to be the first Lineage Holder to teach these profound teachings openly to the public.
This particular series is especially designed for people who are totally new to their exploration Buddhism but experienced students are welcome to attend as well. Hope to see everyone there! ~ Manjushri Buddha Dharma Lineage
