THIS BOOK IS: A soulful and practical guide to creating success on your own terms. It is orange. It's easy to read, but a lot of digging is required by the heart. We will go...there.
IT WILL: Make It Happen! Change your perspective. Get you on the path to living YOUR life.
HOW: Through sixteen sessions. LaPorte asks you the questions that will push you to rethink your assumptions about what will make you happy.

SO, ready to dive in?

GET THE BOOK: At Chapters $28 or online $18.28.
READ ALONG: Since this book is quite intensive, and we all have busy lives, we will be meeting four times as we read together. Each meetup will be a juicy intensive exploration of ourselves and our reaction to the book. Come to all four meetups or just one.

STILL NOT SURE? I'll let the author do the talking. http://www.daniellelaporte.com/the-fire-starter-sessions-danielle-laporte/

COME BY THE FIRE: We will be cozying up in early December to Part 1 of the book. So go get a notebook, some colourful pens, and get working on sessions 1-3. See you in December!

    Hey Fire Starters,
I've started a Facebook page for this book group. It can be found under Paper Cactus Fire Starters. Please join! We are able to discuss and post our daily progress as we go through the next chapters. I will be posting our next meetup for mid to late January. I hope everyone's holidays have been relaxing and fulfilling. I look forward to catching up in 2013!!

I forgot to mention this at the meeting, but I have something on the wall of my home studio that is good to look at from time to time. It helps me when I keeps me on track...

HOW TO FEEL MISERABLE AS AN ARTIST:

    1. Constantly compare yourself to other artists.
    2. Talk to your family about what you do and expect them to cheer you on.
    3. Base the success of your entire career on one project.
    4. Stick with what you know.
    5. Undervalue your expertise.
    6. Let money dictate what you do.
    7. Bow to societal pressures.
    8. Only do work that your family would love.
    9. Do whatever the client/customer/gallery owner/patron/investor asks.
    10. Set unachievable/overwhelming goals to be accomplished by tomorrow.

Ladies, I have a lil one who just came home sick from school with a fever. So sadly, I'm gonna have a Popsicle/slurpee date with my monkey in pjs. Have fun. Revel in miss Laporte's words...

My girlie hasn't received her book yet thru amazon, so she's bailing on us for tomorrow, so I changed my RSVP to -1 now in the event someone else wants that space. Can't wait to hear everyone's lovin on this book.

Keep digging, see you all on Monday! It will be pot luck, so bring a food munchie or wine. I'll supply tea. Also bring along your book and notebook.

Who has their book? Who's started reading? I'm getting back into mine today, setting up a notebook to jote down super important things that NEED to stay in my head. I'm in love with this woman's words. anything or anyone
that does not bring you alive
    is too small for you
