The Haunting of The Merchant's House Museum

On Saturday, June 19th at 6:30pm I will be giving a lecture at The Merchant’s House Museum. This lecture will be about the investigations I’ve been doing there for the last 3 years or so. The Merchant’s House Museum (MHM) was built in 1832 and was home to the Tredwell family for almost 100 years. The house is complete with the original furniture and the Tredwell's personal belongings. The haunting has been reported since 1936, when the house was renovated into a museum and has continued to this year. It took a couple of investigations before we started getting results and now we seem to catch something each time we go. On June 19th I’m happy to be speaking about the data that has been collected, how we caught it and what it might or might not be able to prove.

This is not a lecture that I am putting together so payments must be made to the museum. The price of the lecture will be $20 and all the money collected will go to the upkeep of the museum. The people at the MHM are some of the nicest people you’ll meet and really care about the house and preserving it and the priceless collection within. Not only is the MHM an amazing place to learn about life in the decades before the civil war, it’s the only accredited museum, that I know of, who are open to regular paranormal investigations. The MHM is a notoriously haunted location in NYC, it’s been on the radar of most of the paranormal groups in the area so I’m grateful that they trust me enough to allow me to poke around the house in the middle of the night.

So, come down on the 19th and see me speak about a haunted house while sitting in the house itself! We’ll have some laughs, play some audio, play some video, look at some photographs and maybe head across the street to the pub afterward for some spirits! Go ahead and RSVP here on meetup so I have an idea of who might be coming, seating is limited, and then go to the MHM website at www.merchantshouse.com.

Hope to see you there!
Dan

Dan was both very informative as well as very engaging. His information on the basic history of the Old Merchant's House Museum was accurate and yet brief. He went discussed his 3+yrs long, on-going investigation of this landmark with skill and professionalism. He has caught some very interesting "goings on" there and has had some very interesting personal experiences. If you get a chance to see Dan give a lecture in the future you should go see him, he is worth any money or time that you will spend! He is a great professional! Thank you for sharing your information with us Mr. Sturges!

Dan is an engaging and funny speaker. And his lecture was full of great moments. I actually got chills at a few points listening to the evp he's caught.

The captured EVP's of "The Little Girl" and of Gertrude Treadwell were awsome. Great atmosphere (although too warm) but a fascinating evening all around.
