Shisler Mennonite Church 1800's Investigation, Seance, Tarot, Automatic Writing

  • Apr 12, 2014 · 8:00 PM
  • Sherkston Shores

Shisler Mennonite Church (Sherkston Shores, Ontario, Canada) Investigation.

Type: Investigation
Duration: 4-5 hours
Start Time: 8pm
Accessibility: Good
Level: Easy/Moderate
Cost: $35

Important: RSVP's are limited to 12 and this event will be posted to all 3 groups. As soon as we have 12 combined RSVP's, we will close the event.

We were the first group to investigate this location and I don't think anyone has since.

The first Mennonite church was erected in 1822. The church located now in Sherkston was erected in 1880.

This will be a perfect location for anyone new to investigations.

We will rotate 3 groups of 4.
We could choose to do 2 groups of 6, it is flexible so we will adjust depending on the attending investigators.

1.  Investigate the Church
2. Investigate the grounds.
3. Watch the IR feed of the interior during the investigation
4. Ouija (if you want to, nobody is forced to use it)
5. Ghost Box
6. Investigative Tarot
7. Automatic Writing
8. Scole EVP Experiment
9. ITC for EVP

There may be more that we add…

Rotations (15-20 mins)
Group 1. Investigates the church
Group 2. Investigates the
exterior (EVP/Photo)
Group 3. Observe the church investigation (IR Cameras)

Evidence

Below is an image from out previous investigations. It looks like there is someone sat the the pew though there was nobody else in the church at the time this photo was taken.

The Sherkston staff do not like to be in the church due to the many stories passed down. Some refuse to enter all together. In the last investigation we did, I even witnessed something first hand. I was cleaning out the main area when I saw one of the fellow investigators go upstairs. I watched the shadow wind up the stairs then ran to turn the lights off, I know, very childish… it's like you have never met me :) anyway, there was no scream or anything. Saddened I picked up the items I was taking back to the car, and she was out side, she had never been in the church at the time.

What's New?

No equipment? don't worry, we have plenty for you to use.

New Equipment

Our new Thermal Imaging Camera
Germanium Receptor as used in the Scole Experiment
Ovilus
I.T.C. Audio/Evp Looping

Current Equipment

We have the P-SB7 Spirit Box (Ghost Box). We will also have the IR Live EVP recorder, our K2 meters, digital thermometers, laser grid, digital recorders, IR EVP, EVP Array and we are hoping to have the new ITC audio loop/recorder EVP system in time for this investigation. We have plans to purchase much more in the coming months, stay tuned for more details.

P.I.S.T. has beginner kits which we will be taking. These include Digital Thermometers, Recorders, EMF Detectors, Compass, Flash Lights. These will be available for use during the investigation with instruction on how to use them.

History of the Church

The Shisler Mennonite Church, located in Humberstone Township, Welland County, Ontario, was one of two points where the Mennonite Brethren in Christ worshiped in 1880-1900. The church was located a few miles west of the Sherkston Mennonite (MC) Church in Bertie Township and close to Lake Erie at Shisler's Point (now Sherkston Shores). The membership was small. Ministers from the Twenty, 40 miles (65 miles) north, usually supplied. Organized work was discontinued about 1900 and the church was disposed of to the Brethren in Christ (Tunkers). After the Brethren bought the Sherkston (MC) church in 1931 they sold the Shisler church.

With the church being on the small size (80 capacity) we are limiting the number of investigators to 8 with 2 reserve spaces. As with most churches it is one main hall with a balcony. This church also has 3 very small rooms we can use off the hall. We will use the rooms to place a combination of Tarot, Automatic Writing, EVP, Pendulum Witchboard and Ouija. There will be a seance in the main hall with the monitors up on the balcony. We will pair up investigators and rotate through the various areas. This is really the only way to handle a smaller location. There will be time before and after for open investigations in and outside the church.

What to bring?

You do not need any equipment but if you do have your own equipment, consider bringing the following.

Camera
Digital Recorder
Spare Batteries
EMF Detector
Digital Thermometer/Thermometer
Compass
Video Camera
Warm Coat & Footwear

Hey Gary, great night. Don't know what was scarier, the church or the drive home in the thunder storm. Lol. Question how do I share any of the pics or video clips I have? I have caught a couple cool things!

    April 13, 2014

    • Gary

You should be able to upload from the event page. If not, you can send them to me and I will upload them for you.

I know, the thunderstorm. That would have been so cool if that would have come in a few hours earlier while we were in the church.

Is there still room available? I'm trying to get off work early as I will be coming from downtown. Thanks

  • Tara

Quick question. Anyone know of any cheap ( well inexpensive) hotels in the area ?

    March 27, 2014

    • Gary

Hi Tara. Normally when the park is open we get deals on weekends so investigators can stay at the park. It does not open until Early May so that's out this time.

There are a few hotels in Fort Erie (15 minutes away)

      (Just renovated)
      Econo Lodge
      1 Hospitality Dr
      Fort Erie, ON L2A 6G1
      comfortinn.com
      (905)[masked]

      Clarion Hotel & Conference Centre
      1485 Garrison Rd
      Fort Erie, ON L2A 1P8
      choicehotels.ca

      Hope this helps

Before I say yes and pay
    How is everyone getting there...
    I would appreciate a ride.
and do I have to pay the 35 in full or can I put 10 down and pay the rest when I get to the event?

    February 28, 2014

    • Gary

      Hi Krista

If there is a spot available on the day of the investigation you can pay when you get to the event. There are only 2 available at this time so I think they would go before that time. There is a second investigation the following week that opens tonight at 8pm for RSVP's. We normally have 70% of the members from the GTA so we may be able to sort out a ride for you. I will put out an email to the attendees.

      Cheers
      Gary

Can we have something in Toronto? It's closer to home and I can get around by TTC or I would have more time. School is very important to me.

    February 27, 2014

  • Alma S.

If anyone from Toronto is going to this and wouldn't mind me car pooling with them, I'd really appreciate it! I'd be happy to chip in for gas.

    February 5, 2014

    • Vivian

Right there with Alma, i'd also love to join a carpool.

Hi Vivian, I've found a ride with a wonderful meetup member. You are welcome to come out with us if you get in on the registration. Are you in Toronto?

  • Melicent

Oh, F! Everything good happens around exam time! But I can't risk getting my a** thrown out of school! Can we have something around the 1st week of March?
