Start Time: 9pm (We will meet up at Sherskton for supper before the investigation)
Accessibility: Good
Level: Easy/Moderate
Cost: $20 (Does NOT include accommodation)
Who can RSVP: Everyone

We are again the first group to investigate this location.

The first Mennonite church was erected in 1822. The church located now in Sherkston was erected in 1880.

The Shisler Mennonite Church, located in Humberstone Township, Welland County, Ontario, was one of two points where the Mennonite Brethren in Christ worshiped in 1880-1900. The church was located a few miles west of the Sherkston Mennonite (MC) Church in Bertie Township and close to Lake Erie at Shisler's Point (now Sherkston Shores). The membership was small. Ministers from the Twenty, 40 miles (65 miles) north, usually supplied. Organized work was discontinued about 1900 and the church was disposed of to the Brethren in Christ (Tunkers). After the Brethren bought the Sherkston (MC) church in 1931 they sold the Shisler church.

With the church being on the small size (80 capacity) we are limiting the number of investigators to 8 with 2 reserve spaces. As with most churches it is one main hall with a balcony. This church also has 3 very small rooms we can use off the hall. We will use the rooms to place a combination of Tarot, Automatic Writing, EVP, Pendulum Witchboard and Ouija. There will be a seance in the main hall with the monitors up on the balcony. We will pair up investigators and rotate through the various areas. This is really the only way to handle a smaller location. There will be time before and after for open investigations in and outside the church.

This will be a perfect location for anyone new to investigations.

We will be supplying coffee and snacks during the evening and will have all our "starter" equipment for you to use. This includes EMF Detectors, Digital Thermometers, Digital Recorders and a Compass or two.

What to bring?

You do not need any equipment but if you do have your own equipment, consider bringing the following.

Digital Recorder
Spare Batteries
EMF Detector
Digital Thermometer/Thermometer
Video Camera

Staying over in Niagara? Sherkston have offered us 2 and 3 bedroom homes in the resort for just $99 for 3 nights. Friday-Sunday at a cost of just $111.87 including tax. The homes sleep up to 6 people. If you fancy doing both nights or just one night and tour Niagara for the weekend and enjoy what the resort has to offer, then this is a great opportunity.

I would give it a 3.5 but that is not possible. no significant paranormal sitings. did see some orbs and felt spirits there but limited activity. It was my first time however and found some of the equipment interesting. would have liked to see more but that really is up to the venue and not the people.

Had a great time as well as my guest who is now a member. I definetly felt a prescence in that church. I felt constriction in my head and chest, and my head was quite dizzy and foggy there for a while. This was my first time on an outing such as this. I have been wanting to do this sort of thing for a long time. Gary and Wendy as well as others were very helpful in explaining things, and teaching us how to use the equipment etc. I had a great time, and look forward to the next investigation. I will be very interested in reading Gary's report of the evening. Gary is very informative, a very nice guy, and you can see the passion he has for the paranormal. He has some great stories to tell, very interesting ones. He goes out of his way to be helpful to everyone. It is a lot of hard work he does, and you can tell it is very time consuming and really is very costly. Can't wait until the next investigation!!!

Hi Michelle. If you have a digital recorder or digital camera you want to use, bring those along. If not don't worry as I have all the equipment you will need. It may be raining Friday night so maybe a coat but other than that, just an open mind and positive energy.
