A workshop from Colleen Rae's Mystery School for a Scientific Age curriculum
From Colleen Rae's "Animal Talk":
This dream of mine illustrates animal talk perfectly.
I'm waiting for two men to come back because they took not just my computer's external hard drives, but also the power cord so I can't even turn my computer on. I'm gnawing on the back edge of my laptop. It tastes sweet, but I realize I have to stop because wires are starting to show and I'm destroying it.
As I sat at our table, writing down this dream, my boyfriend comes in to say the neighbor's cockatoo destroyed the tiny remote control for our outdoor stereo. I think nothing of it. The bird's always breaking the clothespins ore eating Gerard's cigarette butts. I just say, "Bummer," and go back to my writing.
Only later when I go outside do I get it.
There on the picnic table sits the image from my dream - black plastic shredded and wires beginning to hang out. I'd forgotten that this remote, unlike the ones inside, wasn't white but black like my computer.
A bird's enthusiasm that morning entered my dreaming mind mind and I made up my own story around it. But I'm haunted by the fact that it tasted so sweet. Did it for the bird?
In this workshop, you'll learn how not only how to communicate with the animals in your life, but how you might have been doing it already and just not known you were.
