This Meetup.com group used to organize a VERY SMALL group of parents and kids that get together to play pickup soccer. If you are interested, send me a message about joining. We have only a couple of openings so you may be put on a waiting list once the group is full. Additionally, the fit between the existing group and new kids must be excellent as described below.
Pickup soccer is a GREAT way for kids to develop touch on the ball, a feel for the flow of the game, and a creative mindset in a low pressure environment. The group is a very loose collection of friends and prospective friends. We are NOT an organized league or association by any means.
In addition to the meetup.com group members, we have a small group of 'offline' parents and kids who come out to the games. For purposes of meetup.com, we are looking for a small number of additional parents and kids (born from 2007-2010) to join our weekly soccer game. This strict age range is important both in terms of matching up skill levels and reducing size difference in the children and thereby reducing the possibilities of injury to the kids.
There is no charge for the games. There is no membership fee. You, as the parent and equal partner in this group, must be present at all times. Participation of parents is also required either as an instructive voice on the field or via supervision from sidelines. All parents are equally charged with organization and operation of the game and game and practice decisions are made by the parents collectively.
Parents and legal guardians joining this group to provide minor children additional playing experience understand and agree that soccer is a physical sport and injury to players may occur. Parents agree to waive and release from liability all organizers and parents participating in this meetup group. All children must wear shin guards and refrain from overly rough play.
