18k, east of Paris - near town of Meaux

This sunday, March 17th we will walk partly in the forest and the rest ... still in nature, far away from the big city.

Level easy, but can be quite muddy in some parts.

Suitable to hike beginners, as not very hilly & with possibility to stop after just 11 k, right after the picnic ... then take a train & be back to Paris at 2.30 pm (instead of 5pm if 18k).

HOW WE WILL GET THERE :

From Gare de l'EST - going to TRILPORT SNCF train station.

Return from : Isles Congis SNCF (after 11k)

or from Lizy-sur-Ourcq (after 18k) .

Costs :

EVENT FEE : 2 Euros/ person.

+ Return tickets : approx 17.00 Euros full fare or reduced to approx 14.00€ (return) if a group rate is possible (depends how many ppl request it).

Our destination is in Zone 5.

FREE with navigo PASS (the monthly Pass only).

U may also buy a Mobilis "unlimited 1 day travel" ticket :15.65 € (or 7.85€ if you are < 26 y.o.) : useful if u already live in suburbs or far away from Paris.

Your guide will be waiting not far from the suburban ticket counters,

in the main (platform) hall of Gare de l'EST

or near the right train's platform.

Meeting time there is from (about) 9.20 to 9.40 am.

+ Pls bring enough small change & be there early if you need to buy tickets.

Our train is leaving at 09.51am - Train name: FIMO

direction : Ferté Milon.

Arriving at 10.20 am in Trilport SNCF, where the hike will start at 10.30am.

METRO LINE 1 is closed on sunday morning ? Take line 14 instead ...

If you already have a ticket, or if u are late : the group will try to be sitting somewhere in the middle of the (back) train.

RETURN TIME : 5.00 pm in Paris, & we might be back to our starting point Gare de L'EST (Or < 3pm if you stop after 11k).

For hiking 'first timers' :

- Bring enough to drink, about 1 liter at least - incl. hot drink.

- Try to bring an empty plastic cup (or metal cup) - just in case sbdy has brought tea, coffee or any drink to share...

- Bring your picnic ; & consistent snack food : energy bars, dry or fresh fruits like apple, banana,... And something to sit on during picnic.

- Useful : gloves, a hat, a backpack with a raincoat, an umbrella - just in case, sunglasses, tissues ... and pls wear shoes suitable for sports & outdoor activities.

Take part in this outing only if you agree with the following, important disclaimer :

Once we get there in the morning, should we buy train tickets on our own? Or can we buy cheaper train tickets as a group? I'm not familiar with how things work with trains in France. Thanks.

Pls update your RSVP if you cannot make it, in order to leave your place to sbdy on the waiting list. NOT OPEN to those still on the waiting list on sunday morning, as a too big group is too hard to manage, obviously ! My cell[masked] 47. See you on sunday 17th.

Sorry I think that Saint Patrick's Day celebrations will get in the way of this hike--it's a shame we didn't go last week! Next time for sure :)

Hello everyone. I am not sure I understand why the group is limited; it's a hike out into nature, not a museum or restaurant visit. And nature should be open to everyone :)
