I just did a little search for what vegans were up to in Paris and happily found this!
I've been vegetarian since I was 10 because I realized what it was that I was actually eating. For the past five years, I've been vegan. I realize that it did take me quite a while to mature and realize that my actions were hypocritical and irresponsible, but as I always say the only thing I regret about going vegan is not doing it sooner! Now, I am as excited about vegan activism and research as I am about trying new vegan cheezes! I love to share food, recipes, and insights with other vegans or anyone who is interested. I work hard to promote urban farming, food sovereignty within my own city and am excited to experience and study the food politics in different cultures. I sincerely think that if veganism was not as marginalized as it is, the world would be a better, more peaceful place, with a safer environment and more food to feed all. I enjoy spending time with people who agree with this as well as with people who are not quite there yet but well intentioned nonetheless.
As I've been studying derogatory discourses of veganism in mainstream media and different vegan experiences around the world, I am excited to meet up with international vegans! Let's have fun exploring the city, eating healthy food (I'm fear I may get lazy and only consume bread and wine if I can't find kale!), teaching each other tricks, and talking about important and fun things! Potlucks and picnics are my favorite, but I am down to try whatever. This will be my first trip to Europe and my goal is to do as many scary and new things as possible! While keepin' it real and keepin' it vegan of course.
In short, I am a vegan student from Philadelphia who is excited and fortunate enough to be living and studying in Paris this Spring 2013! I enjoy tea (and beer, ha),music, comic books, biking, doing yoga, gardening, and most importantly- vegan food!
Everyone is super nice and interesting too!
