ParisFilmCrew 6 is going to be a little more relaxed. No presentations, just a projection of some shorts, and talk.
First off, I've been visiting the Kinopaname projections, which I was introduced to by Mauro. They are really quite amazing, and very friendly as well. 3 euros at the door, you put your name/role in a hat, and then in random drawing, actors and directors are matched, for a film to be made within the next month. Then the projections of films made in the last month go on [btw, beer is 1.50], and though none are perfect, and many are violent, what the heck, the level of expertise on both sides of the camera is really pleasing, and in fact surprising.
So, let's talk about how this group can do something similar... I think that's what lots of people want to do, is just make films, so let's figure out how to get it going, using Kinopaname as a good model.
Mauro is going to project a short he did under this system, and talk about it a bit, and I'm trying to round up another. We may add on additional films as well, things are in flux because of the date.
If anyone wants to do show and tell of some equipment, let me know. For instance, I could bring in that roller dolly I posted a video about on the group site, and I've heard tell of a glidecam that someone owns, etc. I think it is good if people get to know who has what.
For upcoming meetups, there's been an offer from Peter Vickers to do a screenwriting workshop, and I'm all for that. More on that later.
It is possible we can do another in June before the end of the month, let's get through June 1st first. For summer meetings, I won't be around in July, but if people want, a meeting can be held anyway, I'll have to find some sort of assistant organizer. I'm up to do one in August, well, I guess that is me and the three other people in town.
