revised 10/9: Judith Merians can do the presentation next week, so here is a description... if you came along in the spring, you will find this in the vein of the second part of her presentation given then... i.e. motivation and presentation of yourself as a professional in the film industry, and thus useful to filmmakers AND actors. It really was a great presentation last time, you can check it out on the site at:  ... http://www.telepathic-movie.com/parisfilmcrew/en/2012/06/04/judith-merians-presentation-audio-version  .... it is Art of the Meeting, the third mp3 ...

Judith created this presentation in response to a question from one of her students at UCLA: "What do you do when you feel like the dumbest person in the room" ...

later recaptioned "What to do when you're the least experienced person in the room"

Highlights:

Knowing why you're in the room
What you have to offer in lieu of experience
Who else is sitting at the table
What is the agenda
When to say "yes"," no", or "later"
To bluff or not to bluff
Winning over the pros
Leaving the room with something valuable

and my previous description of the meetup, still useful:

http://telepathic-movie.com/parisfilmcrew [that's the blog, it is about to get busy again].... so it has been about 3 months, you know their names, and now it is October... an unfortunately long pause. Last meeting, we drew names, lots of names, in groups of fours and fives, to make films together, or not. We did that at the meeting before as well.

You are all forgiven if you haven't followed up... I admit that for various reasons I haven't edited the film I promised to hard-working Terence et al. So I suggest a face to face reboot, where we talk over where or where not these films are, and plan for more regular production, or at least production methods, after that. That means the promised screening is put off until November... though as I mentioned in a separate mailing, if you have your film done and can't wait, let me know through email or whatever works.

I've also had an offer from Judith Merians, who gave a terrific workshop presentation in the spring, to do another, while she is in Paris this month. Apparently she is on an airplane, which means we won't hear more about that for a little bit, so that is another possibility.

In any case, the date is fixed.

If you've done something over this period that I don't know about, send a link along so I can post about it. If you have a resume you want on the blog, send that. If you have information you want to put in there, let me know. Etc.

For the new people to this announce, this is an open group, from commercial to experimental and back. I do both. English is a plus but we are far from rude, and in fact welcoming.

see you there, or not,

David

Hi everyone. Any fans of The Wire or Treme? Creator David Simon will be at Shakespeare and Co. tonight at 6. I will be there at 5 if any filmmakers want to meet up. And of course, very much looking forward to Thursday!

hi there, bonjour,... we are looking for an attractive male actor aged late 20s/30s, for a 60 second commercial, that we want to shoot all day on Tuesday 16th October and maybe the morning of Wednesday 17th october. There is no dialogue but we would need you to be unshaven at the beginning of the day's shoot and happy to shave by the end of the shoot. Sorry this is unpaid but should be fun, if interested and available pls contact Louise on [masked] asap...thanks!
