Ocean Blues Dinner, Dancing & a Show!

Have a QUESTION for all of you!!!  We have an opportunity to hire and get the Glass Onion Band in March!!!  They are the Beatle's Tribute Band that we did a previous costume/dance party with in I think 2012!

Please comment here if that appeals to you or not! THANKS!!!

Here is the link to the pictures to refresh your memory!  http://www.meetup.com/Parties-by-LeslieSRQ/photos/7456062/

Let's make a NIGHT of it at Ocean Blues!

Starting with DINNER (suggested time is 6:00 p.m.).  You MUST call Ocean Blues DIRECTLY at[masked] to make your dinner Reservation!  This bears repeating:  You MUST CALL Ocean Blues DIRECTLY at[masked] to make your RESERVATION!  you MUST also tell them YOU are with "Parties by LESLIE SRQ"! That way they will keep a list so that we can be seated TOGETHER!!!!  NOTE:  You do NOT have to 'dine with us' to attend, but if you want to be seated together, please make a reservation.  They have an awesome regular menu (link to follow) and they will ALSO have a few 'well-priced' menu items JUST for us that I will post as SOON as I have the details!

The Ocean's ELEVEN Jazz Band starts at 7:00 p.m. and will be playing in the 'front' room.  So, if you don't join us for dinner, you can enjoy sitting directly in that area.   NOTE:  In the 'dining room', you will ALSO be able to hear the band!  You are ALSO Free to roam back and forth, dance, etc.!!!!

Sudie Brattli will be singing with the Band and you are going to LOVE her!  She does a "Janis Joplin" Song that will knock your SOCKS OFF!!

There is ALSO a DANCE FLOOR available for those of you who want to DANCE!!!  SO...........join us for dinner (and make a reservation). ....OR just come to Ocean Blues to hear the Band, Dance, have a drink or an appetizer, etc.!!

BONUS:  The FAMOUS "Betty Fox" Band starts playing at 9:00 p.m. !!!  NOTE:  if you are NOT there by 8:00 p.m., there is a cover charge of $5 AFTER 8:00 p.m.

PLEASE R.S.V.P here whether you are having dinner or NOT having dinner, but you PLAN ON ATTENDING!!!!

• Here is Ocean Blues WEBSITE where you can get MORE information as well as view their menu!

*UPDATE*

I wanted to share this with you!!  Sudie Brattli is from New Jersey and her own family and friends were devastated by the STORMS last year!  She personally organized and performed at the "Restore the Shore Concert" at the Polo Grill and this is some of the footage I shot that night! She is an absolute POWER HOUSE!  This Video was a Happy Birthday, but....... Keep in mind, this was for a 'concert',and on Saturday she will be singing more 'danceable' songs suitable for our evening!!!!  GUARANTEE YOU GUYS..........she will "Rock the HOUSE"!!!

Thank you to Leslie & Paul for a fun evening. I read all the comments but did not experience any of those issues. I found the restaurant & staff very accommodating. My guest & I had a great time. My food was good, & I enjoyed the privacy of the room. We were able to talk while enjoying our meal. My only complaint is that the way the tables were set it made it difficult to talk with other attendees. If anyone wished to dance they just went into the other room. Maybe the dinner should of been scheduled earlier so others had more time to enjoy the band. It kind of overlapped. Thank you for arranging with the singers a special Happy Birthday Song. He was very surprised! See you again soon.

I had dinner before coming and didn't sit so I went wherever the fun was.

When I came in to ocean blues I was told we were moved out of the band room because we had 70 reservations... 32 actually were there and the website said 44 were attending. i wasn't understanding what leslie meant when she said we were having our own "private room in the back..." i never dreamed it would be where we ended up, but maybe a lot of other people did if there were actually 70 reservations and only 32 attended. After messing up our drink orders twice, and realizing we could not even hear the band, least wise enjoy seeing their wonderful performances--which was the reason for choosing to attend this particular venue to begin with, we decided to leave. It took 20 minutes to ask for and pay for our drinks... I do thank u Leslie, for setting up the evening, it would have been most enjoyable had ocean blues set it up as u had originally requested!

Sorry Annette! yes, the location & 'switch' of the dining room WAS the decision of OCEAN Blues NOT our choice. Since this was an event planned for the public by THEM, out of respect, we of course went along with it. Actually, it would not have been too bad, had they put the Band in the front room instead of in that other room. Again, we will think twice about presenting an event for you guys in the future that we, ourselves, did not create and have control over!!!

Leslie, you have a great attitude and are a great "captain" for the group. My comments had absolutely no reflection on you at all. I was particularly disappointed because the person I had asked to come with me had never seen this band before and he was really looking forward to an evening dinner with the band playing in the same room. Thanks.

When I arrived,I saw the group sitting in the back room. I didnt think that much about the location since meeting and having dinner would be better in a quieter location. After dinner, I presumed the group would move to the front. I sat at the bar. I wanted to be closer to the music. Actually, the reason I came was to hear the band play and dance. Not the early band , but the dance band that started later. Thats what I thought this was about. Dancing..... It worked out find for me. I always look for a place to sit and visit that gives me the best opportunities to meet people. I sat at the bar with about 3 other beautiful woman from the meetup group. No problems. Dont let a location stop you from moving to get full advantage of the venue.

Had a really nice time, meet some fun people and the dancing was terrific, thank you Leslie and Paul for hosting. Will definitely attend more functions.

    Leslie,

I've always had a lot of respect for you for every endeavor that you have attempted, both socially and in business. This respect is now through the roof. I didn't attend your Ocean Blues event last night because I always had one bad experience after another when previously attending this venue.
I thought you handled the negative comments by some of the members in an extremely appropriate
manner. You admitted that there were problems, you did not try to make like it didn't happen. You didn't
didn't kick out any of the members who said something negative, unlike another group leader I know.

Finally, you let the membership know that you learned
from the unfortunate circumstances and will not let it happen again.

Again, kudos to you for taking a negative experience and turning it into a positive learning experience.

I agree, Leslie did a great job and handled everything very well, as she always has for the group. As she said, what happened was out of her control. Thanks, leslie for all your effort and your good work!

Bobby, we wondered where you were! We MISSED you!!! Your comments mean the WORLD to us..........thank you so much!

      January 19, 2014

  • Leslie Hinsz M.

WOW.....you guys are a tough CROWD! LOL We were unhappy to read your comments this morning! The private dining room was JUST for those who wanted to have dinner with us as a 'group'. Our GOAL (and apparently we FAILED) was to provide an opportunity for people to be able to talk to each other and get to know each other). This would NOT have been achieved in any other way, as you all saw the layout of the venue. I do agree, given the layout, that the location did not allow for us to be able to take full advantage of the band. In almost ALL of our meetups, I have control over the logistics INCLUDING where the Band is set up. This was NOT the Case last night. LESSON Learned for us, continue to ONLY do events that WE not only create, but have CONTROL over! We were just attempting to provide something different for you. The next 2 events, we personally negotiated, procured the band, created and are hosting ourselves as we have done in the past!! ENJOY your Sunday ; see you soon!

Hi Leslie and Paul, I can really empathize with what happened last night. Knowing how you handle ever detail involved with every event you present, it was definitely apparent there had been a "switch" on you. I hope everyone is able to see that over the years you have been involved with at least 75 to 100 events I have attended or known about, and I can vouch you two never miss the mark. Last night was a "fluke" out of your control. So be it, and I will be there next month. Cheers

Thank you Annette and David for your comments. Couldn't agree more . . . so won't be redundant by repetition. This was my first Meetup. It is my understanding the seating was changed to the back room by Ocean Blues which could have worked well had this been just a social . . . . but it wasn't . . . so with purpose/value marks out window - went elsewhere.

Thank you Leslie and Paul for your efforts in putting this group together . . . . I look forward to events at other venues.

They put 32 people in the back room where we could not hear the music. the service was slower than molasses outside this evening. Dancing in the band room later was fun.

Sounds like a nice band, however we need a venue big enough to dance in comfortably, and not play bumper cars like the Italian place in Bradenton on Bayshore Gardens Parkway.

      January 13, 2014

    • Leslie Hinsz M.

Larry, the most DIFFICULT thing for us to do is to FIND a Venue that is suitable for our events! That is LARGE enough; that will LET us do an event and hire the BAND and do a Theme if we want to, that has a DANCE floor that is to everybody's liking, etc. I'm looking into a few new places, but they are hard to find! Larry, if YOU know of any, please suggest them!!!

I'm not interested in the Glass Onion Band in March. I've enjoyed seeing them once in a while but they are not a good band to dance to, unless it's "free style". There's another meet up group that frequents their events.
