Learn and enjoy folk dances from around the world at 7:45 pm any Friday night.

On March 14th only, we are dancing at a different location. For directions, click here. The Pasadena Folk Dance Co-op welcomes you to learn fun dances like these from around the world. We dance recreationally in casual clothes and have a lot of fun. Sometimes we perform or have festivals where some of us wear costumes. International folk dancing is great exercise and a wonderful way to make friends. Sometimes we do zany things like this combination dance/water fight. No partner, special clothing, or multi-week commitment is needed. Just show up any Friday in casual cloths and comfortable shoes. People of all ages and dance ability will enjoy dancing with us. Our group has about 30 people dancing most nights.

The majority of our members are middle aged or beyond, but we have some younger members too and people occasionally bring their children. Many of our members are single, but we also have a number of couples. (Most couples dance with other people as well.) Some of our dancers have danced professionally and others had never danced before they joined us. Most of our dances are easy to learn, but we have a few that are quite vigorous and/or complicated, but well worth the effort. Dancers feel free to sit down and socialize when a dance is too difficult for them. No one will pressure you into doing a dance that seems too difficult for you, but we provide lots of help and encouragement. Some of the music we dance to is so beautiful that it will take you breath away! Our members have formed many long-term friendships and, over the years, we have become a community. We dance every Friday on a beautiful wooden floor at the Throop Memorial Church, 300 S. Los Robles (at Del Mar) in Pasadena. Lessons begin promptly Fridays at 7:45 pm and continue until 9 pm, followed by refreshments and more dancing until 11 pm. We would appreciate it if you RSVP, but it's not strictly necessary. Many of our regular members are not members of Meetup. We usually have over 30 people dance with us , even though the RSVPs on this site may say only 3 or 4.

Your second night is free and you don't have to commit to a series of lessons.

It was great fun seeing so many dancers able to find the different, but very nice site. It was also great fun trying to get through some challenging Set dances. Thanks to all who came to set up early & who located this nice alternate Dance site.

Everyone had a nice evening, as we always do. We had a really good selection of dances, ranging from simple to challenging, and all of them were enjoyable. The friendly group included some people who have just started dancing within the last month and others who have been with the group for decades. It was somewhat unusual in that no one was there for the first time.

We all had a good time. Our newest dancers are catching on quickly and we had some very experienced dancers return after several years of not dancing with us.

We're meeting at a different location (Altadena Community Church), but we will have the same friendly people, the same helpful teaching, the same neat dances, and the same kind of delightful evening we always have. Teaching will start at 7:45 with a dance people of all levels of experience, including those who haven't danced before, can enjoy. I'm looking forward to a really fun time.

I really hope I can make it… Missing a night of dance with my Pasadena Folk dance friends is very hard on me.
