Learn and enjoy folk dances from around the world at 7:45 pm any Friday night.

The Pasadena Folk Dance Co-op welcomes you to learn fun dances like these from around the world. We dance recreationally in casual clothes and have a lot of fun. Sometimes we perform or have festivals where some of us wear costumes. International folk dancing is great exercise and a wonderful way to make friends. Sometimes we do zany things like this combination dance/water fight. No partner, special clothing, or multi-week commitment is needed. Just show up any Friday in casual cloths and comfortable shoes. People of all ages and dance ability will enjoy dancing with us. Our group has about 30 people dancing most nights.

The majority of our members are middle aged or beyond, but we have some younger members too and people occasionally bring their children. Many of our members are single, but we also have a number of couples. (Most couples dance with other people as well.) Some of our dancers have danced professionally and others had never danced before they joined us. Most of our dances are easy to learn, but we have a few that are quite vigorous and/or complicated, but well worth the effort. Dancers feel free to sit down and socialize when a dance is too difficult for them. No one will pressure you into doing a dance that seems too difficult for you, but we provide lots of help and encouragement. Some of the music we dance to is so beautiful that it will take you breath away! Our members have formed many long-term friendships and, over the years, we have become a community. We dance every Friday on a beautiful wooden floor at the Throop Memorial Church, 300 S. Los Robles (at Del Mar) in Pasadena. Lessons begin promptly Fridays at 7:45 pm and continue until 9 pm, followed by refreshments and more dancing until 11 pm. We would appreciate it if you RSVP, but it's not strictly necessary. Many of our regular members are not members of Meetup. We usually have over 30 people dance with us , even though the RSVPs on this site may say only 3 or 4.

Your second night is free and you don't have to commit to a series of lessons.

Thanks to Valerie for helping us get those Albanian words from their German transliteration into our heads. Beautiful job! Also thanks to Jan for her MCing duties. We had extra time for requests.

It was obvious everyone had a very good time. We had helpful teaching, fun dances, neat music, and a very friendly group, from people who were dancing with us for the first time to long-time members. As always, this group made for a truly delightful Friday evening!

The fans kept us cool, but we turned them way down for the teaching. We learned the words to Cobankat and danced it while singing. Some of us can sing, some of us can dance and some can do both and at the same time. Even those of us who could do neither had a good time.

This Friday is sure to be another terrific evening of dancing and socializing with this delightful group. We have really good teaching this month. It starts at 7:45 and includes dances that will appeal to people of all levels of experience. After refreshments at 9:00, we have a fun program until 11:00 that includes many neat dances ranging from pretty easy (for which no prior experience is needed) to challenging (so many of us can watch others, while we enjoy refreshments and chatting). We'll also all learn the words to a hauntingly beautiful song and then get to dance it. This is going to be a wonderful evening.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
