We have been invited by the Safety Harbor American Legion Riders to participate in “small town America” 4th of July Parade. For those of you that remember last year, we rode in this parade and had a blast. It was great to see little children waving their flags as we rode by (even at 3 mph) and the other motorcycle groups thanking us for participating in the event.
UPDATE: 4th of July Parade Riders
Patriotic Rider Meeting Location:
Florida Department of Transportation
3204 Gulf to Bay Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33759
Meeting Time: 8:30 a.m.
Movement to parade line up: 8:50 a.m.
Arrive at Parade Line up: 9:00 a.m.
The American Legion had the meeting on Tuesday 24 June. Critical event updates are above. We will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Transportation bldg; it is the nearest place for us to meet before we head to the parade line up. I desire all of us to arrive at once so we are not separated during the parade.
Items to remember are to bring bottled water for yourself, sunscreen and enough gas to ride the two mile parade route. Although Patriotic clothing is encouraged, the request from the city was for all riders to wear their club “colors”. So, if you have a Patriotic Rider patch for your vest, wear it, or a Patriotic rider T-shirt is perfect as well. We will have some t-shirts for sale at the meeting location, but not many, so if you have one bring it.
At 8:50 a.m. we will move as a group to the Safety Harbor Marina, where we will be placed in the parade line up. We will be fourth in the parade along with the American Legion Riders, VFW Riders and the Blue Knights.
We will be sitting for a while in the sun before the parade, so be prepared to not get overheated. Once the parade is over, we will all park at the American Legion. From there you are on your own, but the Legion will be open to the public and you can get cheap drinks (water) and Sloppy Joes will be served. Events after the parade will center around the gazebo on Main Street.
I look forward to seeing all of you that signed up, thank you. Grumpy
