Tea and talk

Hello everyone and welcome to Tea and Talk - a chance to meet and chat to members of London's homeless community over a cup of tea and possibly a biscuit or 2...

Here's how it works: we'll meet on the steps of St Martin in the fields church (Trafalgar square) at 6.30 pm. We'll split into groups of about 4 people, and each group will go on a little wander round various areas of London, stopping to offer a cup of tea and chat to any homeless people we meet on our travels. After about 90 minutes we'll meet up again at a nearby pub to share experiences and maybe a drink or 2...

The aim of 'Tea and Talk' is simply to have non-judgemental human-to-human conversation with members of the homeless community - something that happens all too seldom in our busy city, leaving some homeless people feeling very isolated. A simple cup of tea and a chat can help to change that feeling.

No previous experience is necessary: just a willingness to challenge preconceptions and have a chat. Each group will have at least one experienced member who knows the route - and the ropes!

You don't have to bring anything at all other than a non-judgemental attitude and a willingness to get involved. But if you would like to help out materially, wholesome food such as sandwiches, pasties, pies, fruit etc are always appreciated, as are dark-coloured clothing (easier to keep clean) - socks and boxers are particularly appreciated - and basic toiletries such as shower gel & deodorant go down well too.

HOWEVER: the conversation is MUCH more important than the stuff.

We'll wander around for about 90 minutes and then meet up again at a pub - the official Tea and Talk pub is The Two Chairmen 1 Warwick House Street, Trafalgar Square, SW1Y 5AT.

For more information, here are numbers of some of our 'regulars' - feel free to give any of them a call!

Cheers everyone, remember this group belongs to all of us so do keep your RSVP status up to date to keep things running smoothly...

See you all on Tuesday!!!
