Squash, what about the next 2 Saturdays? Some of you are in N. E. Mass. or in NH, not too far of a drive for a day hike, right?
Maybe I'll just go any way.

Sorry folks, I'm removing myself as well. Since this was on the back burner for a while with no date set, I've since signed up for a Jefferson trip in July. Enjoy!

I just did Jefferson in conjunction with Madison and Adams on March 9th. Removing myself from this list so others can go. It was awesome!

    March 13, 2013

  • Elizabeth

I need this as a winter peak. Is anyone interested in a march hike? i was supposed to do thiswith a friend this Sunday but I've been sick all week and the forecast is not cooperative. I am a reasonably strong hiker but have no leadership training so would not take on that responsibility.

Random Group of Hikers is doing Madison, Adams and Jefferson on March 9th weather permitting. There's 3 people on the waiting list... you might want to jump on there as a bunch of people often drop out at the last second.

I did that hike one June; it was awesome! 3 very scenic peaks :D 2008

Mt Jeff. is at Pinkham Notch. The AT crosses Rt.16, right by Wildcat. We could take it to the trail on the left near the summit to go to it.
Is there a "ton" of ice, would I need my crampons, and ice ax?
    I'd bring them anyway.

Hi Brenda, this is actually a hike idea by a member from the summer. If someone wants to step up to lead it, they can do so, but I suggest it be a spring hike due to the exposure in winter since there will be no official organizer.

hi I couldn't remember which group was talking about Mt. Jeff. I hiked Mt. Adams last April, full winter conditions I have pictures. I also have pictures from last Sunday's hike w/ the NY Meet-up group Hudson Valley :) I'll hike Mt. Jeff whenever; as long as it's not too brutal weather conditions. We hiked Mt. Tripyramid, North, and middle peaks last Sunday.

If you want to go on March 30th I could attend. I have all the ice gear for a trail.

I'd also be more interested in doing this (still need it for my 4Ks) in the spring / summer rather than the winter (except if the weather is especially good). I've been getting my winter experience this year, but don't feel I'm quite up to speed yet.

    February 5, 2013

This is a serious hike only to be done by advanced experienced hikers. No room for mistakes

I work Saturdays. I can hike any sun.- wed. Are there ver any hikes on these days? Thanks

Hey everyone, so I love that people are interested in hiking together beyond what we officially organize on this site. I want this meetup to be a resource for people to find hiking partners to be able to have the support and company to reach your hiking goals.

I am going to highly suggest that this gets moved to the Spring/Summer as it is VERY exposed to the wind for a long period of time and many times people have to make the difficult decision to turn around before summiting and there is no official leader set up to make that decision. I am not looking to do this peak quite yet in the winter so I won't have it posted, but possibly another leader (or even another group) will. Check out the Jefferson in winter section here: http://home.earthlink.net/~ellozy/npresi.html#Jefferson

I can put this on the calendar for a Saturday this Spring as a place holder if you all would like so it can still happen and then it can be planned out from there.

I'd be interested as well and would gladly volunteer to lead but my leadership skills are limited to sea kayaking!

The Caps ridge trail was one of the best hikes I had all year. However the jefferson Notch road is closed in the winter. I am intrested in a winter ascent of Jefferson how about you.

So we will have to start at the cod rail base. Thats about 5 miles to the summit (10 miles rt) with four miles or two + hours exposed on the ridge above treeline. I would take the Jewell to Gulfside and return the same. I would do an early start (7AM) if we end up in the dark on the way down it would be on the Jewell (not to bad) As always weather will dictate what actually happens but I am intrested in completing this hike.

Will this be a winter peak?

    November 19, 2012

  • Sid

Hi Allison, Thanks for offering help. I had originally posted this earlier in July to check interest but nothing really happened over summer. I am interested still. If during winter, my preference is doing it as only peak and surely on a good weather day (Saturday). I am not "officially" an organizer, so would be good if you or someone else is able to take up organization so this gets of the "suggested" list :)

    November 7, 2012

  • Allison N.

Hey guys, there is no official organizer for this event. Just a hike someone was interested in doing back in July. It would be a good idea to appoint someone to take lead in the trip planning and also confirm who is actually attending and who is on the list from July. Let me know if you need any help! :)

    November 7, 2012

  • Phillip R.

I'd be interested in this, when you thinking?

    November 7, 2012

Would be interested as a winter peak. Looks like from January onwards, Sunday is probably the better day for me:(

I combined this with washington going up caps ridge and down jewell. It was a great day and would love to do it again

Yes day trip. I am thinking weekend (sat or sun).

    July 16, 2012

  • Tom P.

is this a one-day trip? is there any interest in running it mid-week, like a Tuesday-Wednesday?

    July 15, 2012

  • Anne

    I meant, "Sid." Sorry:)

Steve, I did not come back down Caps Ridge. We continued on to Adams, and came down Valley Way from the hut. My hiking buddy who came up Caps Ridge with us turned around at Jefferson and did go back down. He said "it was not all that bad." I'm working on improving my rock scrambling comfort level, so was not interested in going back down:) If you are comfortable with rock scrambling, I'm sure it won't be a problem for you. Hope this helps.

    July 11, 2012

  • Sid

Anne, Did you come down the same trail? How was it coming down?

    July 11, 2012

  • Anne

I just did Jefferson going up Caps Ridge - interesting with plenty of rock scrambles:)

    July 11, 2012

  • Sid

I also like doing Jefferson Washington Monroe with car spot.

    July 10, 2012

  • josh

was thinking about doing this via caps ridge.
