Lake Jocassee Paddle

Lets meet at the State Park at the boat landing near the cabins/villas at 10:00 am. No shuttle required. We will paddle until we are hungry and can find a beach, stop for lunch, and then paddle some more. We will plan to be off the water around 4:00 pm. I expect that we will need to paddle approximately 15 miles. We will determine our route on May 1, 2014 and then I will post a float plan.

I have never paddled on Lake Jocassee before so this trip will be an adventure for everyone. You will need to be an experienced paddler since I am unfamiliar with the area. Self and assisted rescue skills are required for this trip. Touring kayaks are preferred due to the distance. If you are wearing a spray skirt, you need to know how to wet exit. Even though we are finally starting to have some warm days, the water on this lake is very cold. Please have a dry set of cloths in your kayak.

This is a meet up paddle. You are responsible for your own actions and safety. You must wear a properly fitted PFD with a whistle. Please bring water, lunch and dry cloths.
