Purpose of our group

1. Break Isolation - Research shows that isolation could make everything worse, including our health, well being and relationship.

2. Share & Support - Everyone's experience is unique.  But people who are living with chronic pain and fatigue do share many common experience and struggles that are usually hard to communicate with the others.  To be able to meet people with similar experience, to share the ups and downs and to be understood remind us that "I am not alone" and make things more manageable.

3. Move Forward & Don't Give Up! - With chronic illnesses we often experience low moods, anxiety, pain and lack of energy, etc.  It's easy to get us down and stuck in the dark.  Think about people who had a stroke or a serious accident that took away most of their abilities, some of them would still try  to engage in activities learning to walk, to move their lips to speak, to train their fingers to hold a glass, taking baby steps towards a better quality of life. No matter where we are at right now, we believe there are always things we can learn and do to lift us up and move a little.  As a group, we can learn and share energy and strategies to avoid the trap of drowning in negativity and to keep life going.

A bit of our History - We started off in 2008 as a Yoga Support Group for people with Fibromyalgia, meeting regularly to share and stretch.  After many meetings we realized there are more things we can do as a group and would love to have other people with different chronic pain and fatigue conditions to join us.  So we modified our group name to TIGER that more clearly spells out our purpose for growth and empowerment, and organized new programs in  Fall 2010.
