SEIS and EIS

After the debacle with our last Google Campus event, we are re-running this meet up on SEIS. The session will take place on 28 November 2012 from 6.30pm. The event will be held at LSE New Academic Building Houghton Street, WC2A 2AE near Holborn.

The session is aimed at startups and established businesses seeking to take advantage of the generous reliefs available under SEIS and EIS schemes. In short, under SEIS investors satisfying certain requirements are able to reduce their income tax bill by up to 50% of the amount of their investment whilst investors under EIS are able to claim the same relief up to a maximum of 30%. For the rest of this tax year, investors under SEIS get matching capital gains tax relief.

Further information on the schemes can be found at http://buckworthsolicitors.co.uk/?p=835 and http://buckworthsolicitors.co.uk/?p=804

The session will run though the basics of each scheme and will then look at how the schemes interact and to what extent they can be used together. We will then consider how these schemes can be used to attract investors and what the company and its founders can do to ensure that it is compliant with the two schemes.

The presentation will be followed by an FAQs session.

Excellent. Like the fact that the company giving the presentation was a start up as well.
