I'm a fifty-ish yr old musician who has played guitar for most of them. I play at jams in the clubs and sit in at friends gigs. These PJ jams are great fun, Thanks Gary and everyone else.
guitar, bass and vocals in a pinch. Working on lap steel slide guitar.
I have my moments ...
Neville brothers, Allman brothers, Joan Osborne, Joni mitchell, Dave Sanborn, Dave Grusin, Counting crows, Black crows, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, John Prine, Brad Paisley, whatever ...
drums and piano especially, along with singers. all others welcome. Looking for someone to learn hand percussion with (bongo, conga, etc) or slide players to learn from.
it's a great chance to play with other musicians
Hi Adam, thanks for the note. I'm pretty much open to playing anything at the jam, but for the most part I enjoy playing rock. Anything from the 60's all the way through current alt/indie rock. I now mainly listen to indie bands as played on satellite radio channels SiriusXMU, Underground Garage, and CBC Radio 3.
Adam, just saw the note you sent me through meetup. I would be down to set up a weekend jam. It's harder for me to commit to a regular weekend schedule, but a couple one-off jams would be great. It was a lot of fun playing with you briefly last Tuesday. I could try to set something up either of the last two weekends in July or the second weekend of August if those work for you. Peninsula Jammers could be fun too. Looks like a little more of an established group down there. Let me know!
I won't be at Jam tomorrow. I guess that means you're in! Have fun!
Hi Adam, Welcome to SF Rockers!
Yes, I do like them! I am one degree of separation from Buddy Miller (mutual friend) and I think I've been to John Hiatt's house but I can't swear by it. So, yeah, I like 'em! Don't know all their songs but they're totally in my wheelhouse, whatever that means. It's possible that I once jammed with Buddy Miller. I can't remember. Or not. That makes me sound better than i really am. I should just shut up about being a Nashville jammer. Expectations too high! OK, I suck. Really. Seriously.
Not formally! I just love all drums and percussion instruments. When I was growing up I had many opportunities to try different instruments. Before that,it was sticks. I've always loved different sounds.
I love Al Green! Also Marvin Gaye. I like and can sing some Stevie Wonder, but I think I prefer Little Stevie Wonder songs as a whole. Honestly,I can imagine being back up more than lead with Stevie. Not that I wouldn't be open to trying.
Just looking at your profile. Do you own percussion instruments?
