Our very accomplished chef of 24 years, Chef Gary Alinder, has a blog that will come to your mailbox when you sign up or you can access it for vegetarian/vegan recipes that are often prepared for the Monday night dinners. http://macrochef.word.  You can find great past posts of his recipes, restaurant reviews, travel tips, art and much, much more.  Check it out!

We offer a Gourmet Vegetarian and Vegan Dinner every Monday night in Palo Alto, at the First Baptist Church, 305 North California Avenue at Bryant, 1/4 mile East of Alma. (This is rented space; the Dinners have no religious affiliation).

This is a full vegan dinner which includes soup, grain, beans or bean products, vegetables, dessert, and beverage, prepared by expert natural foods Chef Gary Alinder, our Chef since our inception in 1987. Chef James Holloway is another one of our long-time Dinner chefs. We also have occasional visiting chefs.  Dinner price is $18. If you can't dine with us, you can order a takeout meal for the same price!  Extra soups & desserts are $2-$3.

All are welcome at our Dinners, vegetarian or not. The Dinners are particularly helpful for those who want to eat a healthier diet, but may not know how to get started. Many who attend may share similar health and food related concerns.

Seating is communal; all are friendly; and newcomers are welcome! Attendance ranges from 60 to 100, with a full spectrum of ages spanning newborns to grandparents.

Those new to the area, or those wishing to join a new healthy food event, are among members of this Meetup.  On this website, (listed above) you can reserve your dinner space online by Monday at 12:00 Noon. Reservations may also be made via telephone message at (650- 599-3320) by Monday at 9:30 a.m.

Many long-time friendships have started at the Monday Night Dinners, and are renewed every week! (If you are new to the Dinners, please tell our host, Jay Whitcraft, at the Welcome table, and he or one of the volunteers will be happy to assist you).

When a noteworthy speaker or other event is available, we feature an After-Dinner Lecture or Event. Lectures are usually on macrobiotic or other health and food related topics, by a variety of speakers including macrobiotic counselors, medical doctors, cooking teachers, and people who have dealt successfully with serious diseases using macrobiotic or similar health approaches. We have a pass-the-hat policy for our events; we suggest a donation of $5-10.

Dinner Menus are published in advance and accompany the Newsletter. The Newsletter lists and describes After-Dinner Events, cooking classes, take-out meals, services, restaurants, and markets. The Dinner Menus and Newsletter are published every two months, six times per year (please refer to our website listed above).

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
