A conversation with SHIKHA HAMILTON, President, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence - San Mateo/Santa Clara County Chapter. Former National Spokesperson, Million Mom March.
The horrifying school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School shocked the conscience of the nation and has led to impassioned pleas to Washington to finally take action to rein in gun violence. Will those calls be heeded, or will the powerful gun lobbies yet again carry the day?
In one year on average, almost 100,000 people in America are shot or killed with a gun. Over a million people have been killed with guns in the United States since 1968, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy were assassinated.
Despite all these alarming statistics, Washington continues to be frozen when it comes to taking action to end the violence and costs of guns. The gun lobby has been very successful in blocking common sense legislation time and time again.
Please plan on attending this timely and important forum to learn what you need to know to work effectively toward an end to gun violence in our country.
