Sunday March 3 - 12:45 pm - Open Water Swim &/or Bike/Run - Coyote Point

Join us for another open water swim and/or bike ride.  Meet 12:45 pm to swim at 1pm. Tides look good, should be a fair day, and water temps are dabbling the 55+ range. Like we did 2 weeks ago, we'll go 20, 30, 40 minutes depending on who's up for what.  We loop around the piers, 1/3, 2/3, or 1 mi. distances. Bring wetsuit, swim cap, ear plugs, goggles, body glide, towel. Afterwards (or join us at 1:45pm), optional bike ride or run along the shore on the beautiful Bay Trail or, if people prefer, we could bike up Crystal Springs to Canada Rd.

Coyote Point beach, Dore Ave from 101 North, 1st left on to N. Bayshore Blvd., right on Coyote Point Dr., and follow the signs to the swimming beach. After you pass thru the gatehouse, take the 2d left and park near the changing rooms on the right end of the beach. A sign says "Swim Area #5/Captain's House" that will take you to the swimming area. Call with any questions -[masked] (Rick). Please RSVP - thanks!

Jeremy wins the prize for bravery and fortitude today: first open water swim, in those conditions! Amazing job, Jeremy.

Planned ride after the swim: 26 mi. to Redwood Shores out and back
Options for a shorter route, can turnaround earlier, and for a longer route, an extra 8 mile loop at Redwood Shores.

Interested in a ride/run. Is any one doing that? Any chance the swims will in in lakes sometimes?

Hi Michelle - at least a couple of us are riding after we swim. If you want to skip the swim and join us, plan to arrive at the parking lot by 2pm. I'm leaning toward biking along the Bay Trail to Redwood Shores (19 mi round trip, and perfectly flat, and may add some additional miles at the end). If people prefer more of a challenge we can bike up Crystal Springs to Canada Rd (a climb). We could try a swim at Quarry Lake (Fremont) sometime; not aware of any others open for public swimming.
