Let's all get reacquainted with a meet and greet and June book pick! We will discuss the book and talk about book choices for the future!

The newly released book has been getting a lot of buzz and press from Amazon to Good Morning America. We will be reading "And the Mountains Echoed" by Khaled Hosseini. Hosseini is the author of two previous bestsellers: "The Kite Runner" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns".  Let's see what we think about his latest book! Don't worry if you don't finish the book.... =)

We will meet at Cafe Renzo in Palo Alto. This wine bar/restaurant has a happy hour that lasts until 7pm, so I have made our meeting time at 6:30pm for those who want to indulge in happy hour otherwise there are other menu items as well if you want a full meal.

Also, another one of our members has posted a meet-up in San Francisco, where the author will be talking about this book, what a great meet-up in conjunction with this one!

I look forward to meeting all of you!

Description from Amazon:

An unforgettable novel about finding a lost piece of yourself in someone else.

Khaled Hosseini, the #1 New York Times–bestselling author of The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, has written a new novel about how we love, how we take care of one another, and how the choices we make resonate through generations. In this tale revolving around not just parents and children but brothers and sisters, cousins and caretakers, Hosseini explores the many ways in which families nurture, wound, betray, honor, and sacrifice for one another; and how often we are surprised by the actions of those closest to us, at the times that matter most. Following its characters and the ramifications of their lives and choices and loves around the globe—from Kabul to Paris to San Francisco to the Greek island of Tinos—the story expands gradually outward, becoming more emotionally complex and powerful with each turning page.

I would be really interested in reading this book and attending the meetup, but feel it's unlikely I'll be finished by this date.

Hi all this sounds really great. Just wanted to let you know that for those of you who come to our Khaled Hosseini event on 6/24 -- a copy of the book is included in the ticket price (unless you get student tickets). So it MAY make more sense to have the book club meeting later in the summer to give members a chance to read it! Just a thought :)
