September book choice - Date #1 -The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith

The group that attended July's meet-up came to a consensus to have "The Cuckoo's Calling" by Robert Galbraith as our September book choice.

Description from Amazon.com:

The Cuckoo's Calling is a 2013 crime fiction novel by J. K. Rowling, published under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.

A brilliant mystery in a classic vein: Detective Cormoran Strike investigates a supermodel's suicide.
After losing his leg to a land mine in Afghanistan, Cormoran Strike is barely scraping by as a private investigator. Strike is down to one client, and creditors are calling. He has also just broken up with his longtime girlfriend and is living in his office.

Then John Bristow walks through his door with an amazing story: His sister, thelegendary supermodel Lula Landry, known to her friends as the Cuckoo, famously fell to her death a few months earlier. The police ruled it a suicide, but John refuses to believe that. The case plunges Strike into the world of multimillionaire beauties, rock-star boyfriends, and desperate designers, and it introduces him to every variety of pleasure, enticement, seduction, and delusion known to man.

You may think you know detectives, but you've never met one quite like Strike. You may think you know about the wealthy and famous, but you've never seen them under an investigation like this.

I read the book and loved it...it's somewhere in between an English cozy and a serious mystery. But work deadlines, ugh! I was going to suggest the book that the show Orange is the New Black is based on for another month. Have fun and I'll try for another month.

Meg-it's completely up to you. We always have a mixture of people who will have dinner or just an app and drink but there's always a bunch of us ordering something :)

Alissa-I can transfer you onto the Sept 28th date once I post it since this one is pretty full if you want.

That would be great, thanks. Yeah, I totally understand that the first meeting is full. I think I'm on the wait list. The Sept. 28th date would work for me.

    Hey ladies-

I had to remove the location listed due to the time they had available for reservations for our large group. I will update the location when a place is reserved! Thanks!
