A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan and Lavinia by Ursula Le Guin.

Lavinia by Ursula K. Le Guin
In The Aeneid, Vergil's hero fights to claim the king's daughter, Lavinia, with whom he is destined to found an empire. Lavinia herself never speaks a word. Now, Ursula K. Le Guin gives Lavinia a voice in a novel that takes us to the half-wild world of ancient Italy, when Rome was a muddy village near seven hills. Lavinia grows up knowing nothing but peace and freedom, until suitors come. Her mother wants her to marry handsome, ambitious Turnus. But omens and prophecies spoken by the sacred springs say she must marry a foreigner-that she will be the cause of a bitter war-and that her husband will not live long. When a fleet of Trojan ships sails up the Tiber, Lavinia decides to take her destiny into her own hands. And so she tells us what Vergil did not: the story of her life, and of the love of her life.

A Visit from the Goon Squad, Jennifer Egan
Jennifer Egan’s spellbinding interlocking narratives circle the lives of Bennie Salazar, an aging former punk rocker and record executive, and Sasha, the passionate, troubled young woman he employs. Although Bennie and Sasha never discover each other’s pasts, the reader does, in intimate detail, along with the secret lives of a host of other characters whose paths intersect with theirs, over many years, in locales as varied as New York, San Francisco, Naples, and Africa. A Visit from the Goon Squad is a book about the interplay of time and music, about survival, about the stirrings and transformations set inexorably in motion by even the most passing conjunction of our fates. A breathtaking array of styles and tones ranging from tragedy to satire to PowerPoint.

I've just seen that you're not going to be at tonight's (Jan) meeting - I'll still drop the book there on my way past - maybe someone there will be able to get it to you.

I'll get my hands on a copy of one or the other and read it by the 21st February. I'll probably go for the Ursula Le Guin as I've read her previously

I have a copy of Lavinia which no-one's borrowed yet. I've got a clash with the Jan meeting tomorrow, but could drop it in on my way past.
