I've just started Gabriel Garcia Marquez's One Hundred years of Solitute.
The Betrothed by Alfred Manzoni. An Italian Classic. The title is somewhat off-putting, but it is one of those things that when you read you realise it is timeless. Another favourite is The Magus by John Fowles.
