Hey there. I'm hoping this book club will fill a gap that's missing in the local book club scene. I really enjoy reading books that are engaging and leave me feeling like I've learned something. I also really enjoy books that help me understand other people and where they are coming from. So I started this book club, which I've named 'People, Places, and Perspectives.'
People - personal stories, psychology, sociology, anthropology
Places - geography, culture, urban planning
Perspectives - how others view their own experiences or controversial/relevant topics (but not too controversial - I don't want to have to break up any fights!)
I'd like to keep the reading fairly diverse so that everyone can read some books that really interest them. Occassionally I post polls to help me pick books for the upcoming months. If you think you would likely come to meetings, please vote for books that interest you (polls can be found under the "More" tab). That way we can all have some months we get really excited about. Also, feel free to post book ideas on the ideas page. Anything related to people, places, or perspectives are welcome.
Happy reading. I hope to see you at the next meetup!
