Di Morrissey "The Winter Sea" - A Burnside Library Event

Di Morrissey is one of Australia’s the most successful writers, with sales of over several million copies, she is consistently in the top of the bestseller lists. In 2011 she celebrated the milestone achievement of 20 years in publishing. Di Morrissey's books have touched the hearts and emotions of readers around the world. She writes about personal relationships, the environment, Aboriginal reconciliation, identity and Australia's relationship with its South East Asian and Pacific neighbours.

Her latest book "The Winter Sea" is the story of Cassie - who, escaping an unhappy marriage and an unsatisfactory job, moves to the little NSW coastal town of Whitby Point. Here she meets the Aquino family, whose fishing business was founded by their ancestor, Giuseppe, an immigrant Italian, some ninety years earlier. There she falls in love with Giuseppe’s great-grandson Michael. But when the family patriarch dies a devastating family secret is revealed which threatens to destroy her dreams.

Sounds interesting? Well why not hear from the author herself? Di Morrissey will be interviewed by ABC Radio's Sonya Feldhoff to discuss her book. Due to the interest in this event, it will be held at the Burnside Uniting Church (oppose the Burnside Library - you can use the Burnside Library car parking if you wish). The cost if $6 which includes light refreshments and wine.

So please join your fellow members as we listen to this interesting author and hear more about her new book.

Hi everyone, I will be at the church along with Sharon and some lovely library volunteers to meet you.
There will be some wine and nibbles in the foyer of the church before the event starts, it is only light so if you get a chance I suggest you eat first. The library has no eftpos facilities on the night so please bring $6 in change if you haven't paid before hand. Books will be available to purchase and you can get Di to sign your copy, Dymocks will have credit card facilities available if you need.
It will be a fabulous night with some live Italian music to set the scene before the interview starts.
Thanks so much Mark for promoting this wonderful event, see you all tonight.

Hi everyone - unfortunately I cannot now attend this event. Remember this event is held at the church opposite the library. There will be someone to greet you (as usual) and 'meetup' stickers will be available for people to wear. I really hope you enjoy the night, and look forward to reading the comments after the event.

Good on you Mark! Di Morrissey is one of my most favorite Authors and in fact I have just lent out two books I had in my library to a girlfriend to read. I have read all of her works other then the last one which I have and yes, she has signed it for me as I just haven't made the time to read it yet. Cheers Chrissy
