Orphan's Christmas Lunch

If anyone can relate to the same situation as me, in Adelaide with family interstate and want to do something Christmas day then here's your opportunity. Or anyone passing through SA, doesn't have plans for xmas lunch, the other half has the kids, has the kids but doesn't want to stay home, doesn't want to catch up with relo's, or any other excuse to get out of the house on xmas day and have lunch in the great outdoors of ours.

Bring along a plate of food to share with the masses, ie a chicken, some ham, turkey, a salad, potato salad, possibly snags for the BBQ.

If you have some sporting equipment you want bring along please do. Kids are welcome.

Park in the car park off Seminary Way down the bottom (see map) and I will find somewhere around the area hopefully with a table.  BYO chair/blanket/mat and drinks.

Post what you will bring along so others don't bring the same thing.

I will bring some breads/rolls and I will makes some yummy desserts - cupcakes and will bring (decide later scones, cheesecake or fruitcake) to enjoy.

Also posted in the ADL Wine Lovers Group.

This list is what we have so far from the two meetup groups:

• Desserts (vanilla chai cupcakes & chocolate cupcakes, etc) and breads/rolls;

• BBQ Chicken & potato salad;

    Hi Everyone, I have literally stumbled onto this site ( A godsend as I really didn't want to be on my own on Chrissy). Unfortunately, as it is 5am Christmas morning, shopping will be a wee bit hard for this get together. Will Nibbles be okay as a contribution?

    Great organising Donna. Looking forward to tomorrow and catching up with those I have met before and to some new faces. Can I be the first to bagsy a spot under the gazebo or a tree, then all I will need is someone to stand and fan me LOL. I also agree Tony, love the random-ness of this event.

    1 · December 24, 2013

  • Donna

    Wow, with this group and the Wine Lovers we have 33 so far, that is a great effort. And with so many different types of food being brought along, we shall have a fantastic (maybe not conventional) xmas lunch.
    See you all there tomorrow.

    1 · December 24, 2013

  • Tony D

    i love the slightly random-ness of this meet up... i think it's going to be fun. I'm sure we'll have too much of this and too little of this, but it will be a xmas to always remember, thanks Donna. 25+ random people for xmas is a life experience in community and chaos.. off shopping for some aluminium trays to bring the veggies on... (I'm sure we're going to have two chairs for everyone btw..)

    December 24, 2013

    • Donna

      I know, there is so many different types of food happening here! 33 people so far, wow.

      December 24, 2013

  • Enzo Z.

    Hi Donna, nice work organising this I'm sure it will be very much appreciated on the day. I know that I'm extremely appreciative to have somewhere I can go, instead of staring at my walls Xmas day. I wont be there until about 2-3 pm after I drop the kids home at their Mum's house. I'll bring a couple of bottles of wine as I suspect supplies will be running low by then. :o). I'll be on my motorbike so it's a little hard to bring much more. cheers, and see you all there.

    1 · December 24, 2013

    • Donna

      The more the merrier, I'm sure there will be food still there, the desserts will be on at that time anyway.

      1 · December 24, 2013

  • Emine

    I will know at short notice if i can come if that's okay. What shall I bring? Maybe just nibbles and juice if there's already too much food? I'd also be happy to bake a cake instead... Thanks for organising this Donna!

    December 23, 2013

    • Donna

      Think we may have desserts covered, I've made 2 x dozen cupcakes and another dozen xmas fruit cakes (for the adults as they are very alcoholic, lol). But bring whatever you like

      December 24, 2013

    Could not decide what should I bring. What about if I bring disposable glass/plates/tissues/ cutleries? Does anyone have plant to bring these? Or its ok if I bring??

    December 21, 2013

    • Tony D

      I'm going to bring some turkey, but it's a roll, and still cost $30 - enough for a few people only - if we get a few of these, it would be good. I was going to bring some gravy (in a thermos), and trying to think how to bring some roast vegies - maybe too ambitious...
