Block the date! More details to come soon, but this is what I know so far...
Help-Portrait is a HUGE worldwide event, founded by esteemed Nashville photographer Jeremy Cowart. Photographers all over the world get together and provide portraits for people in need, many of whom have never before had a professional picture taken. Peoria's event is led by Jeff Woods and put on through the Dream Center Peoria downtown. Last year it was called Smile.Eat.Receive. because it became much more than just photography. But for an idea of what this all is, check out the Help-Portrait website (see below), but note we are not doing the Dec. 8 date, but a week later on the 15th to better fit when the Dream Center will have people there.
Last year we shot hundreds of portraits, Tricoci (i think) provided hair and makeup artists, we had a group of photographers doing the retouching right there on site, and Dream Center provided meals for the families and presents for the kids, ... the experience was truly enlightening and humbling. Some of the top professional photographers in town were there donating their time/services, all working together.
This year's event is going to be even bigger, they need another 10 shooters right now, and can always use extra hands to just help out even if you don't want to shoot. It's an awesome way to use your talent to give back to the community... you will NOT be sorry you took part in this!
If you're able to help, RSVP here, but also email Jeff at [masked] so he knows and can include you on the email list. There will probably be a meeting for anyone helping out prior to the event, and I will post info on that as soon as I get it.
Hope you can help out!
