Heart of Illinois Down Syndrome Association Spaghetti Dinner

Hi everybody, the Heart of Illinois Down Syndrome Association is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner at the ITOO hall. The admission is $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children and the event is from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Stop in for dinner at anytime and tell your friends!

They are also looking for volunteers to help out in various capacities throughout the event. If you go to the link above, they have more information about the event and a link to sign up to volunteer. I have already signed up to do trash cleanup from 11:00 to 1:15. This is a nice chance for all of us to volunteer together. If you do volunteer, post in the comments when you are volunteering and what you are doing so we can make sure to say hi to each other at the event.

We also have another way we can help out. They are doing a bake sale at the event as well and are looking for donations of baked goods. Breads, brownies, cookies, chocolate treats, layer cakes, pies, cinnamon rings, cupcakes/muffins or trail mixes are all needed. I plan on baking something and if anybody else wanted to as well that would be great. They want the donations to be dropped off early so I will just drop everything off when I go in to volunteer. If other members would like to make something for the event, we should arrange for me to pick everything up beforehand and we can give them as one large donation from the Peoria Secular Humanist Society. I might even host a "baking party" the day before.

In summary, we can help out here by attending the dinner, volunteering to help with the dinner or baking goods beforehand to donate. Feel free to email me with any questions.

Hi everybody, we all probably got this email but I just wanted to make sure nobody missed it:

"All Volunteers: Please remember to park across the street at Midwest Implement or at Pleasant Valley School down the street so we may free up parking spaces for our guests. It will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you for understanding."

Unfortunately I won't have the time on Saturday to do a baking party or coordinate a large donation from all of us. If you have baked goods to donate please bring them in when you come on Sunday. If you are not planning on attending but would still like to donate baked goods, email me and we can figure out a time for me to pick them up.

One last note: It looks like we are in for more snow this weekend so please drive safely when coming in.

Hey guys, I am new to the group and will be joining you at this event. I signed up for trash duty from 11-1:15 and will also have some baked goods to donate. Nick let me know if I should just bring the baked goods with me when I head in to volunteer or if you wanted them prior to that. I will likely stick around afterward for a late lunch if anyone wants to join.

Hi Andrew, welcome to the group! I am still figuring out the logistics behind the baked goods but I will keep you posted.

Do you know if are able to eat for free if we volunteer? I don't need much but I would have to volunteer instead of eating lunch...see my predicament. But at a minimum I will certainly bake something for them. I am down for a baking pary, but if not just let me know how to get the baked goods to you.

I double checked and it looks like you would still have to pay in order to eat, even if you're volunteering.
