Discussion - bylaws and "Hug an Atheist"

For this meeting, we have a few business items to discuss. First, I would like for us to arrange a screening of the documentary "Hug an Atheist" which works to correct the negative stereotypes about atheists that we all know too well. I would like to arrange for a public screening (after all, we already know that atheists aren't bad people, we need for everybody else to realize that as well) but there will be costs associated with that, so we will need to find a way to raise funds. I will have an estimate for how much money we will need to come up with at the meeting.

Next, I would like to discuss formalizing our organization with bylaws and elected officers. Our regular discussions/informal movie nights have been great and we will certainly continue to do those, but in order to progress our organization further (to providing public film screenings, for example) we will need elected officers to take up the task. We can review bylaws of similar organizations and get an idea of how exactly we would like our group to be structured.

Sorry folks, something important cropped up and won't be able to make it. Have a nice meeting and look forward to learning the minutes of the meeting.

Did not see this until today. Yes, I am allergic-to religion, especially evangelicals and Mormons. They give me a very bad case of hives.

There are two files in the files location BN Free and Spring doc that are the bylaws of our friends in Bloomington-Normal and Springfield if you wish to check them out before or at the Tuesday meeting

At the last Tuesday meeting we decided that we would bring in food to share since this meeting occurs at the same time that most people eat dinner. The library guidelines state that we may have "light refreshments" in the room during our meeting. Please try to bring things that are not too messy and fit into the category of light refreshments. Also, if at all possible, please post here what you plan on bringing so we don't all bring the same thing.
