Regular Discussion

Members of the Peoria Secular Humanist Society meet on average every other week to have a discussion on varying topics. Some discussions are very structured with specific information being presented by a member while others are less formal. Topics can change rapidly on some of the less formal discussions but members almost always enjoy themselves. Discussions are open to anyone from active members of the group to newcomers wishing to learn more about who we are. Discussion topics will be posted to this meetup before the discussion but, as always, anybody will be welcome to bring a topic to the floor.

For this particular discussion, we will review a couple of articles from salon.com where a particular author makes some negative remarks about atheists. We will also discuss a blog post from the same author laying out the logic behind the criticism of atheists.

*Note to regular discussion attendees that the meeting is scheduled for 7 PM, this is not an error but rather is due to a scheduling conflict that I had.

Is there a reason we aren't in the library anymore?

I haven't been able to get the room reserved when we need it.

They are a bit smaller (we could fit just not spread out) but the library does are two study rooms available for two hours at a time. Just an idea for the future.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
