The Regal Room, The Distillers (map)
The Performance Workshop 2-5pm is for singers of all levels and styles who wish to work on gaining confidence, improve their performances or try new ideas out.
The workshop begins with a brief talk on a performance related topic such as 'what is a great performance?", stage fright, mic technique, delivering the story, connecting with the audience, coping when it all goes wrong etc. Then workshop singers perform to receive on the spot feedback for improvement. The teacher will be London vocal coach, Line Hilton
*The Regal Room is a professional live music venue so we will be making use of it's facilites. *There will have a live sound engineer (as opposed to a recording sound engineer - not a dead one LOL) *Each performance will recorded onto a CD and written feedback provided. You can then go away and practice the suggested strategies and return the at a later date to see how you’ve progressed and to develop further.
Performance slots are limited to 8 per workshop but no number limit to observe.
Performers: Bring one song to work on, I suggest it’s a song you are very familiar with so you can concentrate on performance skills not lyrics or melody. You must provide your own accompaniment (there is a keyboard on site, or bring a guitar) or backing track. A sound system is already in place with a sound engineer. Your song and verbal feedback will be recorded onto CD
Fees: £24 for performers (must be prepaid) £10 for observers - on the door or email for payment details
TESTIMONIALS FROM PREVIOUS TPWs
"It was the one of the best workshops I had attended. I have gained what I should work on for my singing and becoming a better performer." - Yuki Umiguchi
Hi Dawn, I don?t focus on repertoire or style per se. I work on performance effected by performance anxiety (stage fright), authentic delivery and stage presence. These would all be relevant if you were wanting to develop your concert performances or if nerves were getting in the way of your performance. It will not apply to opera performance skills.
Hope that answers you question,
regards

Is this a good stretch and challenge for operatic voice, please?
