A collective of backyard gardeners and growers who either use, or seek to use permaculture principles on their own properties. The goal is to advance and discuss permaculture principles specific to North County San Diego. Think water harvesting, water retention, soil building, biodiversity, guilded systems, and multiple uses of inputs. The goals would be to help each person try to maximize their use of space, water, and time while reaping functionality, beauty, and food/craft materials. The group will also provide growers with a collective knowledge base to exchange ideas and learn new strategies. Share ideas that people are currently implementing or want to implement; what works, what doesn't. Troubleshoot existing installations. Review and discuss books and videos. Hold site tours.
This group is not about the areas of permaculture that involve economy, communities, and home building/design, or the philosophy of sustainability. This group is about active growers who already are sustainable and/or want to become more sustainable. This group is about growing plants and the systems that support plant growth (soil, water, biodiversity). It is permaculture in practice, not theory.
