|I have contacted the Upstate Gardeners Journal for possible press coverage and free garden journal handouts.|
Also I have been contacted by a New Journalist from the BBC out of NYC. She usually writes on the edge articles for NPR and similar venues. She wants to interview persons who are turning to alternative methods of individual security, being more prepared for life emergencies, and also the Permaculture movement. Self sustainability. She is interested in making a time to come to Syracuse and talk to a group of people from various angles as well as the Alchemical Nursery project and what makes us tick.
I told her about planting a sunflower garden and having a parent get upset because this might bring bees into the park, so she is also interested in how people have become detached with their environment. Like my composter was a problem at first by my neighbors, but people have to learn how to take responsibility for their own waste.
She said its okay for me to give out her contact info, so she could get a general idea of interest. This is a great opportunity and she is interested especially in SU students going to the extra yard to be a part of a community that would benefit all who lived and worked in the community, no matter what your income. People caring about their home and environment with similar goals. I told her about our gathering apples from the community and making applesauce which was not only a great outreach but all benefited from the applesauce and learned a skill they might be hesitant to try on their own.
