Bonfire and Banjo music with vertical gardens. BYOB I'll have snacks and wine

I have a couple of couchsurfers coming that want to hold a banjo and fiddle workshop while in Jacksonville. They travel spreading Country Swing, Roots Jazz, and Street Blues like; http://www.sligocreekstompers.com/ and
http://www.bumperjacksons.com/ They are always looking for a paying gig but Monday night is for barefootin' round the fire.

Please bring an instrument or an ear for fun. Starting just before sunset but come on in any time till 11 pm.

I also have 2 vertical pallet gardens started and a couple of 2 liter tower gardens going that I can show how to build.

Vertical gardening addresses the small footprint garden with lots of room for plant spacing. Issues involved are making sure nutrients added at the top make it down to the bottom without being depleted by non-companion plants on the way down and crop rotation to keep the soil fertile without starting over every season. Placement for sun and self-watering needs to be thought out. A top funnel and filter design for clean hydration helps.
Tour the peanut garden and the super bell pepper tree going on 2 years of constant production. Working vermiculture box display.

Too cold but more people showed up than I thought would. The BumperJacksons were tired and just wanted to relax so the music portion did not happen but lively discussions abounded.

James, we will be short a car so I won't be able to attend! Hope you win the horse shoe toss!

Early evening should not be that cold.
Hot drinks by the fire with good company should be nice.

James, when is a good day to bring some firewood? phone me 226 0645. I planned to saw it up some but just broke the starter cord on my chain saw. I even have a bucket of dry twigs for starter.

James, do you have plenty of firewood for the bonfire? I have a pile of leftover limbs I can saw up and bring you a load.

Could always use more wood. My tree limb from last year is still not splitting well even with a diamond wedge.

I'm going to get a couple of Casey's organic chickens to grill out with a (Casey's) honey glaze.
Bout time I broke in the horseshoe pit right.

So the fiddle won't be coming with the surfers but a washboard is along with ukelele, guitar, and clarinet (Great; now I can't get Klezmer out of my mind!).

These folks are really looking for paid gigs on tour as Bumper Jacksons so I am asking for a small donation if you can afford it of $5-10 each with a Guaranteed $30 from me to feed them and gas for another day on the road.

If they do come up with a paying job that night the music part will have to be recordings from my extensive library or maybe that group that comes to many of the Permaculture doings.
Either way, my cheap porta-greenhouse should be set up over the melons that are flowering right now and a couple of tomatoes that are still hanging on waiting for warmth to turn the growth back on.
I still have 2 giant luffas to pick.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
