“Persuasion is the art of guiding one’s mind through a field of ignorance, misinformation, or misunderstanding to a destination where there is enough information and understanding to make a logical choice to do what is in the best interest of the person being persuaded.” – Steven Scott
Today it’s simply not enough to be effective communicators. More than that, we need to be able to communicate persuasively – not manipulation for our own selfish interests, but rather to possess the power to persuade others for their benefit. People we need to persuade and influence everyday: bosses, subordinates, spouse, kids, family members, friends, colleagues, clients, prospects… just about everyone!
Come for this exciting Meetup workshop, learn simple steps how you can become a persuasive communicator and influencer, and meet other people like you who are striving for personal excellence and continuous growth!
Great question! According to my mentor Steven Scott, "Manipulation is using any means necessary to motivate or force a person to do something that fulfils your desire or need, whether or not it is in his best interest" while persuasion is 'The art of guiding one's mind through a field of ignorance, misinformation or misunderstanding to a destination... (where the person can) make a logical choice to do what is in the best interest of the person being persuaded."
I am a lover of language. The words we use often determine the success or failure of our interactions. As Joseph Conrad put it: "Words have set whole nations in motion and upheaved the dry hard ground on which rests our social fabric. Give me the right word and the right accent and I will move the world."
Look forward to our next Meetup on Persuasive Communication... Let's move the world!
I had a great time. Thanks, all of you, for your wonderful participation. Look forward to our meeting next month.
