Pet Therapy at Town Village

The Town Village Sterling Heights has invited us to bring our beloved dogs to visit them. Town Village is an independent living community for seniors. Because it is independent living, not a nursing home, your calm & loving dog is welcome to visit without being a certified pet therapy dog. We meet with residents who are interested in seeing, hearing about and interacting with your dog. Your dog should be people friendly, not just interested in other dogs. On leash, you will introduce your dog to residents, show off tricks if you wish and spend time with some really nice people. These Meetups last about an hour. This is an hour well spent. For our active dogs, we recommend a walk or run before coming to Town Village, so the dogs can relax and be adored.

Some confusion remains on location. We no longer meet on the first floor in a game room on the left of the entrance. A social director thought we should move to second floor were the entrance to the cafeteria is at the top of the stairs. After a while the seniors voted that down. But when fewer senior came down to the first floor we asked to go back up stairs but we MUST stay on the street side or the area, allowing seniors to get to the lunch room without worry about dog or leash interference to their path. There are elevators both to the right and left of the main entrance.

Okay I am planning on being there! My dog is not very big, she is classified as medium sized. I don't think there should be a problem with the other dogs, she has been to doggie day camp, and has also met my boyfriend's golden, and she has been fine in both situations. I cannot wait, I think she will enjoy it almost as much as I will!

We do not have size restrictions on the dogs that visit the seniors at Town Village. Even if she were large, she could come. Having had an 80 pound Lab, she sounds small to me!?! We only want people friendly dogs and dog friendly also would be wise. The dogs I have now are 25 and 15 pounds and they sit on an occasional lap. Maybe your dog shouldn't try that but seniors can bend over a pet her and enjoy it thoroughly.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
