Change of location! We will be meeting at Anna's instead of Peter's.

I'm delighted to announce a performance this month. Chris, Ruth, Bob, and Barbara will play the Sonata in G Major for Two Flutes and Basso Continuo, by Johann Joachim Quantz [masked]). After the performance, we will split up into our impromptu groups as usual.

Please RSVP if you plan to come.

Bring instruments, a music stand, and lots of music. Join the discussion -- what would you like to play?

Great fun today! Thanks for the warm welcome my first time attending.

Our little group really appreciated this opportunity to play for such a friendly audience today. I heartily recommend that others also form their own small practice groups to work up pieces to perform at future meetups. Great fun and a great way to build up your performance muscles.

Hi David, Eleanor tells me that you are looking for a violinist to play a Mozart trio. I would like to do that if you haven't already found someone. I will bring some kind of snack or beverage, depending on how much time I have to make something. Tonight we play Beethoven's 6th at Orchestra Society of Philadelphia. Any string players who would like to play are welcome. It's in Presser Hall on the Temple campus. Go to the OSP website for details.

Change of location: Due to unforeseen circumstances, Peter is unable to host this month, so we will be meeting at Anna's instead. My thanks to Anna for stepping in on such short notice!

As usual, I'll bring my keyboard and just see who needs accompaniment. I'll also bring the score for the Fanny Hensel trio. Has anyone ever tried using a keyboard string voice as a substitute for violin or cello? Is it acceptable or is it too electronic sounding? I'm just thinking that might be something I could do if we're short on string players.

  • Larry K.

I'll also take a look at it. I'll be playing duets with Eleanor and perhaps some other cello ensemble. I can help out with a movement of the K564 if it fits in. I'll bring some soda and juice.

    March 21, 2014

  • Thomas G.

I downloaded the cello part for K 564 and will look over tomorrow morning. I am also bringing Boccherini cello duet in C major which I am studying with my teacher.

    March 21, 2014

  • David

Is there a violin and cello to read through Mozart Trio in G Major K. 564 with me?

    March 20, 2014

  • Doris D.

I will be playing the Glinka trio for clarinet bassoon and piano at home on Sat. morning.

    March 20, 2014

    • Katharine G. L.

What a beautiful piece! Who will you be playing it with? Unfortunately I will be out of town and can't attend, but I would love to try it with you some time. (I'm a not very advanced clarinetist.)

      March 20, 2014

  • Larry K.

Time flies. I'm glad we're ready for our next meeting. I will be bring some cello duets. Eleanor, maybe we can give them a try this month. I couldn't find anything for more cellos that caught my fancy. Peter, I hope you have some. I'm also open to any other grouping that fills out the afternoon.

    March 16, 2014

    • Eleanor K.

Hi Larry, I look forward to cello duets -- I will bring some as well.

I have to leave around 2:30 so I will get a chance to listen this month. Can't wait to hear the performance as well!

Our intrepid group of Chris, Ruth, Bob, and Barbara will be playing for us again; we heard them at the August meeting last year. I'm also looking for an ensemble to play at our April meeting. It's a great opportunity to get experience playing for others -- you won't find a friendlier audience than your fellow members.

There is a recital in April to perform in or check out. Here's a link to the file: http://files.meetup.com/7025302/recital%2004062014_email_1.jpg

Jennifer, I also contacted her and will be on the program doing a (very) short Beethoven Adagio. Thanks so much for recommending!

Sometime beyond Betty's April recital I would love to perform, with either or both of you! She did manage to get 2 Steinways into her little living room.

FYI Don't know if anyone is certified to teach music in NJ but there will be a position in Evesham TWP fall 2014. Someone retired, don't know the details.

I invited two new folks, clarinetist Jackie and basoonist Ray. I will bring music for duets for two C instruments and a couple of trios (2 C instruments + viola/cello).

I volunteer to bring a tasty snack. Perhaps good cheese with some crackers. Too many cookies aren't good for us.

Unfortunately I have 2 other commitments on this date, and won't be able to attend unless my schedule unexpectedly changes.

  • Vinnie

I have cleared my schedule and barring anything unexpected I plan on being there this time :-)

I have been looking into pieces that I'd like to play and am hoping to find a Violin and Cello player to join me in Haydn's Piano Trio Hob. XV:2. The Sheet music is here: http://imslp.org/wiki/Piano_Trio,_Hob.XV:2_(Haydn,_Joseph)

I'm particularly interested in the "Menuetto and Trio" movement because I feel that it is are within my skill level, but I'm not against giving the rest a try!
