This was a very enjoyable meetup. There are so few opportunities to play serious music in a fun and nonjudgmental environment.

Eleven members enjoyed a fine afternoon of music on a rainy day. We had Haydn, C.P.E. Bach, Mozart, and Gilbert & Sullivan. Thanks to all who came.

  • Deb P.

    Really enjoyable

Sorry - terribly booked day. Next month, I hope.

    August 22

  • Sue E.

Sorry, I can't make it tomorrow. So sorry to miss out on flute trios!! I hope we can try them again at another time.

    August 22

  • David

Would four people volunteer to bring a snack or beverage to share? I will bring some cookies.

    August 18

    • Wendy

I'll bring a delicious pica de gallo (not spicy) and homemade tortilla chips.

      1 · August 18

    • Liz

I'll bring some fruit - strawberries or blueberries or similar

      August 21

  • Doris D.

The Haydn trios for flute are HV:15, 16, 17. I am familiar with #15 and #17. I can scan and download parts from my Peters edition if a flutist and cellist want to practice in advance.

    August 20

    • Deborah H.

I would be interested in trying these out. Thanks, Deborah.

      August 21

I'll be bringing some flute, cello, piano; flute trios and duets

  • Eleanor K.

I would be happy to play any cello part, as needed

    August 18

  • Doris D.

If you can accommodate another pianist, I would like to attend. I can bring Haydn trios for flute or violin/cello/piano and music for 2 flutes and piano.

    2 · August 18

    • David

We will have to take turns on the piano, but I'm sure there will be time for you. Haydn trios were very popular last month, and I'd love to hear some more.

      August 18

    • Barbara M.

I'm not familiar with Haydn Flute Trios, look forward to hearing!

      August 18

  • David

Does anyone have a keyboard that they can bring?

    August 18

  • Laura

    Hi, Everyone!
Would really love to join you, but I work on Saturdays. David, just wanted to let me know how much I enjoyed the last meet-up at your home; giving me the opportunity to begin playing again after too long an absence from oboe. Thank-you all so much.

    August 17

    • David

I am delighted that you could make it. I'm exploring the idea of having an occasional meeting on Sunday, so watch for news.

      August 18

  • Deborah H.

I will bring the Mozart Flute Quartets and some music for multiple flutes.

    August 17

  • Barbara M.

Hi Anna, "Spiegel im Spiegel" is ready to go -- really nice piece now that I have counted all the ledger lines and written in all those stratospherically high notes...

    August 13

  • Wendy

Hi. I'm looking for a voice teacher. Any suggestions?
    Thanks much.

Arrrg! Meetup took away the email feature! They substituted what they call 'conversation', which is like a messaging system. I had no notice from them and am trying to figure it out.

    • David

Wendy, I replied to the message you sent me via the new conversation feature. Please let me know if you find it!

Barbara, absolutely, I'm up for anything. I also have a Telemann trio sonata in b minor for flute, violin and cello which I'll bring, it can also easily be played with 2 flutes or two violins. Most of my other music is just flute/piano or flute basso but I'll see what's available online before the date based on the makeup of the group.

    1 · August 9

    • Barbara M.

Fantastic! The Telemann sounds wonderful too.

Could I interest the two excellent flautists in a Handel Trio Sonata or two? I could bring Sonate 3-Moll fur 2 Flauti tranversi und Basso continuo, HWV 395 (probably written by Hasse and misattributed to Handel) and Sonate F-Dur fur 2 Flauti dolci und Basso continuo, HWV 405 (probably not genuine Handel either). Unfortunately, neither is on imslp.org, but I will bring all parts which are also available at the Logan Square Free Library.

We will also need a cellist and I would even be willing to share the piano part with a fellow keyboardist.
