I'm so VERY excited about this concert and our first Meetup -- not just because it's FREE and at the Curtis Institute of Music, but also because the music so wonderful: Beethoven Sonatas for Violin and Piano, 7, 8, 9. It's been several years since I heard these sonatas, and to warm your ears up, here are some wonderful performances on YouTube:
Sonata No. 7, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePyFU6hWp00
Sonata No. 8, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFS7PV_oes8
Sonata No. 9, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46hDeLRsuks
Bonus … Wednesday evening, after 5 PM -- it's FREE parking in Center City, so if you find a legal spot, don't worry about feeding the meter! The Parking Authority takes the night off.
Perhaps we can walk across the street to Parc after the performance and toast the student performers -- and of course, Ludwig too.
PS: if you want to come but haven't said so, please reserve now. Concert begins at 8, try to be in the lobby to meet me at 7:30, right by the front doors, so we're sure to have seats -- I'll try to wear some kind of hat so you can find me.
