For our Fall reading group series we will be looking at a range of strategic issues surrounding the question "what is socialist strategy today, and what should it be?" This Saturday, in the third session in this series, we'll examine the relationship between socialist organizing and electoral politics.
This will be an excellent chance for both new folks to learn a bit more about why socialist organizations are important and what DSA stands for, as well as a chance for more seasoned DSAers to talk about their agreements and differences with these perspectives. It should be a fascinating discussion.
We'll be reading two articles this session, and here are the links to the articles:
"Why Labor's Soldiering for the Democrats is a Losing Battle," by Adolph Reed in New Labor Forum
"The 2012 Elections Have Little To Do With Obama's Record...Which Is Why We Are Voting for Him," by Carl Davidson & Bill Fletcher, on AlterNet
If you have any problems accessing the readings, please email Liz at [masked].
Even if you can't get to any of the readings, please come anyway and participate in the discussion! Snacks and soda will be served.
Following the reading group we will go out for drinks and food at a nearby bar or restaurant to have some DSA socializing time.
