I'm looking for 1-2 more players for an upcoming Dark Heresy campaign. The current group has an experienced GM (me), and a couple of solid RPG'ers who are familiar with the rule set.
Ideal candidates are gamers who can commit to rolling dice once per week (we're thinking about Monday night) from about 7p-11p. By commit, I mean be able to show up 80-90% of the time, as everyone has outside commitments or things that come up, etc.
A working knowledge of the 40k universe is helpful, but anyone with a love of gritty sci fi can get a hang of it pretty quickly via reading the fluff in the rulebooks, or grabbing a 40k novel from B&N.
The group is pretty laid back, but we do like to make progress when we game. A little disruption here and there is perfectly cool, but a table clown isn't what we're looking for right now.
Our games are typically a 50/50 balance of RP and blowing stuff up - Dark Heresy features a bit of investigation and problem solving as part of the RP. "House rules" are typically kept to a minimum, but I am always super flexible if you've got a compelling reason to change something. As a GM, I really encourage everyone to build and manage a character with some substance - a purpose and motive beyond kicking in doors and stabbing bad guys in the face.
The current group has been gaming together for a long time (8 years with the newest member), and rotate through other RPGs like D&D/Pathfinder, and are looking forward to the new FFG Star Wars (we played some beta). We also play Warhammer and Warmachine on "off" nights where a couple players miss or whatever - so if you're into those games, bring your doods. We also do some "ad hoc" stuff with larger groups of friends that can't make a weekly routine, which you would be invited to as well.
So, in light of that, we'd want to meet before kicking off the campaign, just to ensure everyone will mesh well.
I expect this DH campaign to run for a few months, and if everyone gets along, I'd hope you hang around for future gaming (though you don't have to!). I host everything at my place in Levittown, which is located a few minutes from 95, Rte 1, and the Turnpike.
We're looking to kickoff the new campaign in mid June, but would want to get together ahead of that to meet.
